Food builds the ingredients. Sleep builds the muscle. 🛌💪

Train 100%. Eat 100%. Recover 100%. Miss one and the other two go to waste.

One night of zero sleep cut muscle protein synthesis by 18%, dropped testosterone 24% and raised cortisol 21%. That’s from a 2021 study, and it’s why eating Wagyu on 4 hours of sleep will lose to basic food on 10.

Sore, ripped muscle? I eat, sleep, wake up, repeat, and by day 3 it’s recovered. That’s the process. Sleep is the supplement. 😴🔥

Lat pulldown. 15 reps minimum, then drop the weight and go for 10 more.

The emphasis is on the stretch, and every 2-3 reps I add a pulse in the weakest part of the range to build strength where it’s lacking.

Every rep has a purpose. That’s how one of my reps does the work of five.

When’s the last time you sang? When’s the last time you danced? When did you last actually feel good?

Here’s something most people never get told. Years ago, scientists fed rabbits a high-cholesterol diet to see how much damage it would do. Every rabbit got the same food. But one group got something extra: they were handled, petted and spoken to gently while they were fed. That group developed far less artery damage than the rest. Same diet, same conditions. The only difference was how they were treated.

Your mood changes how your body handles what you put into it. Stress, negativity and constant pressure keep your body in a state where it isn’t recovering or building properly. Happy, relaxed people tend to sleep better, recover better and look better for it.

You can have the best program, the best nutrition and the best coach. But if you’re stressed, negative and surrounded by negative people, it will hold back your training.

You never hear this because nobody makes money off you being happy. There’s no supplement for it. But it brings us back to mindset, and why it comes first.

Sing. Dance. Laugh. Spend time around people who lift you up. It’s part of the training.

The two sides of the coin: training and recovery.

But where does nutrition fit in? And is there actually a difference between nutrition and recovery?

The real secret to growth isn’t the one you’re being sold.

There was a time in my life when I ate packs of noodles and tins of tuna, trained with bodyweight only (mostly burpees and cardio), and slept 12 hours a night plus naps in the day. I got the biggest I’ve ever been, and I was natural.

Then there were the times I was in high-end gyms and proper bodybuilding gyms, eating steak, eggs and all the “right” foods. And I was getting smaller.

The difference was recovery. Sleep, rest and a body that wasn’t run down.

Nobody makes money off you sleeping. Nobody makes money off you eating noodles and tuna. They make money off supplements, nutrition plans, programs and two hours a day in their gym. So that’s what you get sold.

Look at the army. Look at prison. People get big there with simple food, hard training, and nothing to do but rest and recover.

Stop looking outside for the answer. Start asking yourself: am I sleeping enough? Am I eating enough? Am I actually recovering?

Day one. Straight off the plane and straight into the gym.

I spent 6-7 months preparing for this while bulking, doing my homework. I studied the history of Muay Thai, from Muay Boran to how the kings turned it into a sport. I learned the legend of the Thai warrior who was captured, beat ten men to win his freedom, and went back to his land, the land that became Thailand. Then I found out how closely the art is tied to elephants. I grew up watching elephant documentaries with my father, and at that moment it felt meant to be.

I looked at the very best camps for months. I picked FA Group because of the fighters it produces and their style: Muay Khao, the knee and clinch style. I watched every documentary and video I could find on social media, and I practised at home. Teep for teep, knee for knee, elbow for elbow. I even bought the same shorts I’m now wearing, in the place I dreamed about.

I came alone. I asked God to be there for me, and one month later I fought at Rajadamnern Stadium. My first fight ever, and my first experience of Thailand.

Bodybuilding taught me to find my weakest point and work on it. So I asked what the weak points in my life were, and this is me working on them.

And this is only day one.

Follow the journey. 🥊

What most coaches won’t tell you: the hardest part of training isn’t the training. It’s the dips.

The fall-offs. The low weeks. The moments momentum disappears and you quit without ever deciding to.

Bodybuilding teaches you to look at your weakest body part and fix it. So I turned that on bodybuilding itself. What are the weak points of this lifestyle? What do bodybuilders struggle with, mentally and physically, and how do I stop it happening to me?

Plan for the downfall before it arrives. Catch the dip early and keep the momentum going.

That took me 20 years to learn. I’m sharing it so it doesn’t take you as long.

Why your back isn’t growing: you’re doing “back day.”

Think about it. Nobody trains a “front day.” Your back is three big muscle groups, and cramming them all into one pull session means none of them get the attention they need.

Years ago, proper bodybuilders in proper bodybuilding gyms taught me about mirror muscles. The muscles you see in the mirror are the ones you naturally train the most, because you can see them. So for every push day, I do two pull days. Double the work on the side I can’t see.

So when I look in the mirror and think my front looks good, I know my back is even better.

I don’t do back day. I do trap days, lat days and rhomboid days. Each muscle gets its own focus, and each one gets three different angles.

Most people do the opposite, and that’s why their back stays underdeveloped.

Coaching link in bio if you want a back that makes people stop and look.
