“Music can be a unifying force, a reflection of cultural identity, and a vehicle for both connection and exploitation.” At Youth Guidance Dallas, We strive to improve the social-emotional and behavioral competencies of students at higher risk of experiencing violence and mental health issues. Our programs do this by providing a curriculum that is rooted in values such as Visionary Goal Setting, Positive Anger Expression, Accountability, Integrity, Respect for Womanhood and Self-Determination. I personally refer to these as the V-PAIRS! At Youth Guidance we commemorate the WORK that our BAM “Becoming A Man” scholars do year round to become the best versions of themselves in the form of a “Rites of Passage”! This year we will focus on “Making the music that leaves a lasting Legacy” Part of being a BAM man, is displaying vulnerability and experiences in a way that can be of service to others! In my efforts to apply the values to life I have highlighted popular songs that have kept me grounded in the same values we promote here at Youth Guidance! I hope you don’t mind i added my personal touches to bring home the message!This ceremony will take place May 14th at North Dallas High School!
