8 months ago, this piece of art changed my life— where it debuted at the YSY Gallery in San Francisco

4 months ago, it was admitted into the di Rosa Center for Contemporary Art True North Gallery

And as of tomorrow, it will find a new home with someone else who will cherish it forever.

Thank you to everyone who came to support my work and spread the love. Being an artist means the world to me and I have been touched by how many people have resonated with my work.

I’ve been drawing familiar places you’ve passed a hundred times but never really stopped to look at.

I’m exploring what happens when a place gets filtered through our memory and what it looks like to carry an imperfect version with us.

As seasons of life come and go, what do we remember about the places we hold dearest?

Certain places exist in our memories as feelings rather than a fully realized photo. The coffee shop where you met your partner became more than just a place. It took on a newfound meaning and you remember all the good feelings that came with it. It has transcended the idea of being just a coffee shop and is now one of the places you hold dear.

Art take: Sketching is energy.
It needs to get transferred from idea to page.
But the longer you wait, more energy is lost through dissipation (does that even make sense to my physics friends?)

Of course, sketching can be a very slow, intentional process. But don’t let the process get in the way of you expressing the initial idea. Just make it exist. You can perfect it later. by @nateyo101

Make it exist first,
then refine it later.

I’m practicing getting my ideas on the page quickly. It feels good to let them exist, even imperfectly.

Plus, being ok with imperfection alleviates you from the pressure of getting the idea out. Sometimes that fear prevents us from bringing our vision to life. by @nateyo101
