Building a Billion Dollar Construction Business in Australia
POSTS STORIES REELS
22 years building his business, now he wants out. Most construction owners spend decades building something, then have no idea what it's actually worth or who'd buy it. Here's the truth: buyers pay for profit you can prove, a team that runs without you, and work that keeps coming. Get those right and you sell on your terms. Miss them and you take whatever's offered, or you can't sell at all. Thinking about selling in the next 1–5 years? 👉 Find out what your business could be worth. Free appraisal at the link in my bio. 👉 Or DM me "SELL" and I'll send you what buyers look for first. Follow for more real conversations with construction owners about building, growing and selling their business. #sustainableconcretegroup #constructionbusiness #businessowner #sellingabusiness #construction #australianbusiness by @nathanhulls
You can tell a lot about a company by who chose to own it. At our last shareholder meeting I looked around the room and saw: → Founders who’ve built and exited their own companies → Builders and developers → A former listed-company CFO and company secretary → Finance and capital markets leaders → Family-office founders and Order of Australia recipients These are people who’ve spent decades building, listing and governing companies, and they can back anything they choose. They chose this. What they’re backing is the build of Australia’s next major construction group, on the road to IPO. Not everyone gets a seat at this table, and that’s deliberate. Every person on our register adds something beyond capital: experience, networks and judgement. by @nathanhulls
One of the best things we’ve built at SCG isn’t a new business or a new technology. It’s the room. Founders. Operators. People who’ve run crews, won tenders and signed the front of the cheque. Our shareholders don’t just back the plan. They bring talent, ideas and resourcefulness to every table we sit at. 80 introductions. $11M+ in tenders referred through the network. 4 acquisitions settled. More than capital. We work with winners. 📍 SCG Shareholder Meetings, February and September 2026 Follow along as we build. 🏗️ #SustainableConcreteGroup #SCG #CivilConstruction #Concrete #ConstructionAustralia Infrastructure Founders BuildingTogether by @nathanhulls
When this is home… by @nathanhulls
We hold our shareholder table pretty tightly. At our shareholders meetings, our shareholders get the unfiltered version. What’s working, what we are working on, and what’s next. In Melbourne last month, that looked like: → Tech that’s gone from theory to “we’re doing it now” → Buying on yesterday’s performance, owning on tomorrow’s → Step one: buy a good business. Step two: don’t wreck it. → Tier 1 builders calling integrated structures “a solution we never thought we could have” → Bringing our brand leadership to Maxsil: $150K a month to $500K+. Same business, same product. As Brendan said, it’s bigger than any one of us. by @nathanhulls

After a massive week moving house, cleaning the old place, speaking for a men’s event, negotiating deals, engaging investors, it was time for a weekend of relaxing… by @nathanhulls
Our vision is clear: provide the world’s greenest concrete and use it to deliver the world’s greenest concrete structures. Building Sustainable Concrete Group to fulfil that vision takes committed people, a shared mission and values that guide our decisions every day. In this conversation, our Managing Director, Brendan and myself, sit down with Michael ‘Mojo’ to discuss what we’re building, why it matters and how we turn that ambition into action. From developing innovative materials to delivering complete structural packages, our mission connects innovation with construction. That means bringing together people, businesses and capabilities that can turn waste into resources and put those resources to work in the structures around us. It also means building trust with the shareholders, partners and customers who make that progress possible. Our values need to show up in how we lead, who we partner with and how we deliver. by @nathanhulls
The vision to create “The Worlds Greenest Concrete” started as an idea, and now that idea has turned into a movement. @sustainableconcretegroup by @nathanhulls
