News! It’s an exciting time for Nathaniel. He is progressing so well with football that he wants to focus on his training so that he can make the Norwegian national team youth system in a year and a half when he is old enough. Though obviously challenging, many coaches have said he has a chance to do it.

So Nathaniel wants to announce that he is moving on from scoot. He wants to also give a MASSIVE THANK YOU for all the amazing support he has received from his sponsors @leosscooterparts, @gainprotection and @indothetrickscooter. It was almost 4 years ago when Nathaniel and Sander, his older brother, joined Leo’s and it is a relationship he loves and will continue to have. He has made so many great friends over the many years he has participated in this great sport. He is thankful for them and all the fellow competitors that have inspired and pushed him to compete over the years. And he is happy to leave on top as a national champion and having placed 7th at the worlds last year at Corby.

He will follow you all and his older brother @sandermelby and maybe sometimes see you at the skatepark. But he is taking the fork in the road and pursuing his ultimate dream of being a professional footballer and maybe one day play alongside some of his heroes. Scoot taught him so many valuable skills and so much wisdom that he takes with him to football. For that he is so grateful.

So thank you all and keep pushing this great sport and Nathaniel will be watching and cheering you all on.

2 years ago, after placing 7th at the scooter world championships in England and winning a national championship, Nathaniel decided to end his scooter career because he wanted to focus on soccer, to become a pro.

This week, Nathaniel took 2 big steps towards achieving that very challenging dream. Nathaniel was offered a place on the Fredrikstad Fotballklubb Akademi 2014 pro academy team.

Fredrikstad (FFK) is one of the oldest and most successful top division clubs in Norway - they are 2nd in league titles won and 1st in cup titles won.

In Norway, pro academies like FFK can’t take kids in until the year they turn 12. Nathaniel turned 12 a few weeks ago. At FFK, Nathaniel trains 2 times a week with professional trainers and will play in games and tournaments against other pro academies in Norway and in other countries, and he still practices with and plays for his local team.

Nathaniel was also selected to enter the Norwegian National Soccer Team system at the entry level, which also happens the year a player turns 12. It’s the first level, Sonelag (zone team - his zone is Fredrikstad), where all selected players start. Making the Sonelag team was one of Nathaniel’s original goals so he is really stoked. The national U15 team is 2 levels above that, so it’s a long journey to make that team and only 20 players or so manage, but Nathaniel wants to try and has taken the first big step. taken in Fredrikstad stadion by @nathanielmelby
