I had a great weekend at the Miami Film Festival. Ran into a lot of old friends and made some new ones. Got to see Bob Odenkirk’s new movie Normal, the documentary Everyone is Lying to You for Money by Ben McKenzie from the OC, the biopic of Jorge Silva Red Hangar, and from Miami filmmaker Gonzalo Mejia Por La Vida. Also got to watch an Unreal Engine presentation from Lord of the Rings Visual Effects Supervisor Dean Lyons. Their was so much we didn’t get to do and see, but plan on watching all the movies when they’re released. Learned a lot of techniques I’ll be taking back to work and I’m going to start preparing for next year. #miamifilmfestival by @nathanscamera

In addition to participating in the Smodcastle’s 37 hour challenge this weekend, I also had the script I wrote with @hiimlarrywhite read at @filmgatemiami for 2026 fellowship. I think the fun we had writing it came across to the audience. We received a lot of positive feedback thanks to our strong readers. @officiallyashmeni was the perfect Starfleet Vixen, @josed_ochoa brought positive vibes, @onlineyas really tapped into the obnoxious child inside us all, @fawad_means_he.art gave the script directions lots of character as the narrator, @jakerodactor made everyone feel anxiety getting lost in space. We made a film in 37 hours for Kevin Smith’s Smodcastle. It was so much fun being surrounded by people who wanted to be there and make stuff. Such a positive and hard working group of people. I couldn’t be there for most of it because I had a script reading for the movie me and Larry are trying to make at @filmgatemiami , but I was able to leave and have the trust in a group of people I know would deliver. My love Krystal has now become a force to be reckoned with as a director. @thatkevinsmith once said in his evening with himself dvds that a studio executive told him that “it’s not about making movies with your friends” and how he never took that advice. It stuck with me and I try to not live by that advice as well and it’s been a blast.
