Let's talk Drywall fasteners.

Here are the two types of fasteners I use the most.

On the left is an 1¼" Fine Thread Drywall Screw. This is the screw I would recommend for fastening ½" drywall to steel framing. The fine threads are packed closer together, allowing for a better grip in steel studs.

On the right is an 1¼" Coarse Thread Drywall Screw. I would recommend this type of Screw when fastening ½" drywall to wood framing. The wide spacing between each thread effectively pulls the board flush against the wood studs.

I always say, anybody is capable of doing what I do. However, there is still a right and a wrong way of doing things. Knowing which material to use in different situations is where a contractor shines and will elevate your project to its full potential.

BENCHES! WE DON'T NEED NO STINKING BENCHES MAN!

Oh wait, yes. We do indeed need a bench. Here it is. Framed out of steel. Topped with a piece of plywood and finished with drywall. Weird? Maybe. But I made it work.

PAINT IT!!!

This beautiful fireplace entertainment feature is ready for paint. @fresco_harmony would be better. I dont get to make those decisions though.

Sanding day is usually the worst day on the job.

Get yourself an electric sander with a dust extractor and sanding day becomes just the last step before painting.

I have never had a bad time working with @fresco_harmony. Between the array of colour's and getting to try different techniques.

The finish result is always worth every step of the process.

Sometimes as homeowners, it is thought that you may be able to help speed things along for your contractor by doing some of the work you have hired a contractor to do.
Sometimes the homeowner is correct in thinking so. Other times they do this and provide extra work for the contractor they've hired.

Don't be a renovation racoon... Leave it for the Pro's

Start to finish of this project. Estimated time was 15 hours. 19.5 hours over 3 days was the reality of it. The home owners are happy with the results and that is the most important thing to me.

Before any job gets started, materials have to be brought in to the jobsite. There's no better way to tucker yourself out than carrying 2 sheets of drywall at a time by yourself.

Just a little something I was LUCKY enough to be a part of. Closing up an ugly stair area that the home owners no longer wanted to look at.
I had estimated this job taking 10 to 15 hours. With a little change requested after drywall was hung and a little unfortunate fixing on final sand day, I had come in at 19.5 hours over the course of 3 days. Not too shabby if you ask me.
