Time is a thief… best and worst part of being a parent, watching them grow up. Lane Bear turned 5 this past week and I truly don’t know where time went and how fast we got to five. Little does he know, he has saved me, he’s built me, shaped me, helped me, taught me and the list goes on.. even as a grown adult, I’m not afraid to admit I have felt lost time and time again and one things for certain no matter what, when I was around Lane from day one and now Sonny as well I was always grounded, or reminded to be the best me that I could be and most times a lot of the outside noise got a little quieter. These kids don’t know it but they have done more for me than they will ever know and to see them grow happy and healthy makes me so happy and sad all at the same time. Each birthday that comes around it’s another reminder to be thankful and present. And each birthday I feel the need to thank him for all of his help that he’s not aware of.. I have had so many first with Lane Bear and so many moments that I’ve only dreamed of. So to Lane… stay happy, stay curious, stay wild and one things for certain I will always be in your corner no matter what time, day or year. This was only one highlight moment of the weekend of many. I was sad for Lane but proud and happy all at the same time. This was just after his last moto of the day and he was upset and frustrated… I felt bad about him being upset but proud and happy to see the hunger. We have been working all season long and today marked the best day of racing since he started on his racing journey. He fought like hell, pushed hard each moto and battled up front all day long. We tucked the front in two motos, made some amazing passes in other motos and made some mistakes as well. Today Lane really learned what he needs to work on with the cards that he is dealt. Wild to see a four year old be open to discussion about the track and the racing and see the fire in his eyes once things started coming together. All it took was two hole-shots yesterday against 38 kids and he woke up ready to fight for it today. Extremely proud of how he did and is doing.. and as I say it.. we gotta keep the dig alive and keep pushing. Man this weekend was wild.. but today was next level! #prouddadmoment #dig taken in Spring Creek Motocross Park by @nathenlaporte139

33 and still have moments that remind me of the good ole days. Went down in the second corner on the first lap, stuck under the bike and came back to pass for the lead with three laps left! I know @jakevaness74 wanted that one but I couldn’t let that happen just yet.. good times at @valleyraceway
