These past few days have been truly an honor and humbling experience. I was given the privilege of attending this year's annual Caribbean Development Bank Youth Fire Forum.

I was invited alongside other Bahamian youth leaders as a youth participant to discuss important regional issues. I made meaningful connections with future regional leaders and given the opportunity create lifelong friendships.

If you know me, you'll know I'm probably the most patriotic person you'll ever meet. I always joke that my birthday is July 10th, and that I came out of the womb ready to catch crabs and eat Johnny cake.

Every year, I make it a point to attend our Independence Day Junkanoo, and every year I'm left in absolute awe. As the biggest cultural celebration in our nation, Junkanoo never fails to fill me with an overwhelming sense of pride and gratitude for what it means to be Bahamian.

Watching the talent, creativity, and passion of my people on display reminds me just how rich our culture truly is. There are moments when I wish I could be out on Bay Street with them playing the brass, beating the goatskin drums, or even shaking the cowbells. Unfortunately, I wasn't blessed with any musical talent... or even a funky bone in my body.

Still, I'm more than content to celebrate and support our culture from the sidelines. I may never play an instrument in the parade, but I will always do everything in my power to protect what it represents.

Our culture is our identity. It tells the story of who we are, where we've come from, and where we're going. I will always be committed to preserving it, celebrating it, and working to create a better Bahamas for all.

They often say that every day is an adventure, and this day was truly no exception. It really brought out the inner child in me.

On Sunday, I decided to visit Captain Bill's Blue Hole on the island of Andros, and to say the experience was unforgettable would be an understatement. We made memories that I know we'll look back on with fondness for years to come.

Being surrounded by friends and family and appreciating life's simple moments is what it's all about. Sometimes, it's okay to slow down, take a break, and decompress from the pressures of everyday life. 👏❤️💯🇧🇸 taken in Captain Bill's Blue Hole by @nathonccoakley
