Idk about you, but we’re still thinking about @nationoflanguage ‘s set this past weekend in Brooklyn 😵‍💫

If you haven’t caught them live yet, we highly suggest you do. For a band with a love song titled "Weak In Your Light", their minimal stage design packed a serious punch when it came to the lighting.

Truly, one of the most beautifully lit concerts we’ve been to this year ✨

And then THIS vibe switch during "On Division St" 👌🏽🤩

Happy Birthday Dance Called Memory! 🍒A year? I can't believe it, this album means so much to me that it's hard to describe it in words so thank you Ian, Aidan and Alex for this beautiful album, thank you for making such magical and human music ❤️

Now that I look back and that I'm trying to resignify my life I want to share these words here and I know it makes sense because precisely Dance Called Memory has taught me allow me to feel all my emotions accepting sadness, grief and changes as what they are, something heartbreaking.

I have been absent from here, I know, on July 18th something happened that completely collapsed the small floor on which I was standing and I fell into an abyss that seems to have no end, I have been trying to stay here, alive, I have cried like I had never cried before and the mornings and nights waking up with this emptiness in my soul have felt endless.

I didn't know that I had the ability to cry every day, the ability to be so fucking sad, I spent two months with insomnia problems that were ruining my daily lucidity, I have barely been able to go back to sleep a few weeks ago with the help of medications, psychological therapy and the unconditional support of my friends and family, I am grateful to have people who love me and support me, I am grateful for not having heard that voice that told me a few weeks ago that it was better not to exist because then I would no longer be here writing this.

I love being alive but sometimes it’s so heavy and being a person who gets too involved in everything is exhausting, mental health is so important, being responsible with the people who love us and saying goodbye with respect is so important.

Sometimes I think that the sadness is gone but the feeling is still here and I'm letting it be, this time I'm not fighting against it and I'm not demanding to be well either because I'm not. This was something that sooner or later was going to happen, the collapse of everything I have resisted, I am finally falling but I know that when the fall ends I will find redemption and for now I don't wanna break my fall ❤️‍🩹

“’The Conversation’ is a song that’s been haunting me for a few years now — one of my personal favorites I’ve written, yet it’s never found a home on an album,” Ian Richard Devaney expounds. “It’s extremely contained in the sense that when I write out the lyrics it reads more like a standalone poem than most of our songs, and it dabbles in storytelling in a much different way than I’m used to doing. It’s a vignette, centered around two people whose lives are so intertwined, and have been moving towards this one conversation, this inflection point, where the things that need to be said might finally be said.”

“The Conversation” is here! The B-side of the 7" vinyl that includes the cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Tougher Than The Rest" finally arrived on digital platforms today.

One of the songs I was most curious to hear and undoubtedly one of my favorites from now on, magical, mesmerizing, melancholic, a song that feels like a dream from beginning to end, an effect that only @nationoflanguage could create 🥹 Thank you so much for this beautiful song, I cried when I heard it this morning, thank you!

Meanwhile
The ocean underneath my skin
Whispers there's no way to begin
I cannot describe the feeling watching you
Fade, washing away

On May 22 Introduction, Presence turned 6 years old and here is a post to celebrate this magical album, thank you @nationoflanguage for this work of art ☆ Personally, I love this album with every fiber of my being, especially “The motorist” but you already knew that haha thank you again and forever! ♡

“The time put in shines through; Introduction, Presence is a remarkably self-assured debut, 10 pristine pieces of synth pop that eschew dramatics for concision. Songs like “Rush & Fever” and “On Division St” reach the glory of Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark and The Human League through an attention to craft that many bands with the same influences fail to notice. The album is full of miniaturized synth flourishes and clear, crisp drum beats that were probably fussed over for months until they came out just right. Sue-Poi’s bass lines are the secret weapon, having learned Peter Hook’s lesson that the bass can be a powerful melody instrument.
Despite the shimmer, Introduction, Presence is a decidedly forlorn work, haunted by the ever-present specter of past mistakes and accumulated hardship. “I’m wasting away/I took the long road home and it never paid off for me,” Devaney sings in the album opener “Tournament” in a downcast voice that echoes through the entire record. Yet while nostalgia and longing inform the album, they never consume it, and the band knows when to push forward. “Turn the pages/Try to find another way,” he sings achingly at the end of“The Motorist,” desperate to escape this moment in his life.
That moment arrives with the album’s final song, “The Wall and I.” It shines as their most anthemic cut through just a few well-placed, dramatic keyboard notes and some unexpected guitar chords. Devaney sounds just as trapped in his circumstances as he always does, but for once it feels like he might transcend them as well. “I stared up the wall and he said/‘I don’t know’ is not an answer to the question,” he wails in the chorus, realizing he can no longer hide in indecision. Not necessarily a comforting epiphany, but fitting for an album built on making peace with the past, and taking small steps to something grander”.
