on the road with @chastitysongs rn, but i wanted to pop into your feed from this chipotle in fargo to say thank you to everyone who has listened to/shared/commented on waiting for the paint to dry - it truly means the world! it’s sweet to see what songs resonate with people and hear what others are hearing in the project

shows to come in the new year, as well as new music and all that, but we’ll keep in touch 🫶 taken in Fargo, North Dakota by @nativeother

i’ve held onto this collection of songs for a little while now and have wondered whether or not i would release them a few times. are they worth putting out? are they too old now? does any of it resonate with me still? none of it really matters that much, and opinions will vary regardless—which is a good thing. these songs are ultimately still a part of me and tell stories of the ups and downs of various stages of relationships, the emotions felt in the process, and what was learned along the way. although these are my stories, many of us have surely felt similarly and it feels good to connect, be vulnerable, and to share. it feels good to be honest and reflect, even when it hurts. it’s cathartic, it’s powerful, and most of all, it’s real. i wanted to keep these songs close to the demo versions to maintain a certain degree of rawness, which i think was captured quite well, if i do say so myself.

big love to @tommnixon and @callumcrombie for engineering and producing this project with me and as always, big love to @torontowastemgmt and @scottgirouard for being in this with me and helping bring it all to life. these songs are no longer just for me, they’re for all of us.

it’s been a little while since i felt like this
never seen a smile make me lose my grip
but i think you have it all, my darling
and i wouldn’t call you that—unless you wanted

when i met you, it felt like riding a bike
for the first time in a long time
some things just roll along so easily
in the middle of the road, going hands-free

still, i’m picking up what you’re putting down
and i lost all the grey on my way
to the colour in you

i could sit here waiting for the paint to dry all my life

shouldn’t get ahead of myself like this
cuz you’re not mine and i’m not yours
but we owe it to ourselves to be this open

you could say the same for the space
that i’m hoping to colour with you
i wouldn’t make a change
to the shades you brought

not even if they’re running out
not even when i’m feeling doubt
or filling in the frames of summer
with somebody else

even if you’re leaving now
you know where to find me down the road
or we’ll both look away when we cross

thought i lost all the grey on my way
to the colour in you by @nativeother
