First responders move toward the call.

Today, on National First Responders Day, we recognize the people who train, prepare, and step forward when others need help. National Ski Patrol members are a critical part of that community, bringing emergency care, sound judgment, and teamwork to mountains, trails, and outdoor spaces across the country.

To our patrollers and first responders everywhere: thank you for your service, your preparation, and your commitment to caring for others. by @natlskipatrol

Ski season is right around the corner! Across the country, patrollers are preparing to return to the hill—refreshing skills, checking equipment, and getting ready to support their ski areas throughout the season.

Soon, lifts will spin, snow will fall, and NSP-trained patrollers will be back doing what they do best: helping keep the mountain safe for everyone. Here’s to the start of another season! by @natlskipatrol

Patroller wellness is a part of mountain safety.

Through our Patroller Wellness Program, NSP members can access resources that support stress management, traumatic incident response, and a stronger culture of wellness across patrol teams.

Ski patrollers respond in challenging environments, make decisions under pressure, and support people during difficult moments. That work requires more than technical skill—it also requires resilience, awareness, and support. by @natlskipatrol

Outdoor First Care starts with readiness.

NSP’s OFC course prepares mountain and bike hosts to support outdoor recreation by teaching basic first aid and patient care skills.

As part of NSP’s education offerings, OFC helps build confidence in the field—giving hosts the tools to recognize incidents, assist guests, and support safer experiences in mountain and trail environments.

It’s another way NSP training strengthens the people who serve outdoor communities. by @natlskipatrol

As part of the OEC Refresher, patrollers participate in hands-on skills sessions that apply emergency care knowledge to real-world practice.

Across the country, patrollers are participating in field-based scenarios and other assessments to test the skills they rely on when responding to incidents in challenging outdoor environments.

It’s one more way NSP education helps prepare patrollers to better assist ski area guests. by @natlskipatrol
