Hello Record Player. Long drive back from Asheville, North Carolina and I am glad to be out of the vehicle. I don’t know if any of you drive that drive from Knoxville to Nashville often but it’s almost all congested traffic the entire way now. Big city traffic sprinkle in just enough semis and cops and everyone is stacked up for miles πŸ™ƒ. I need to listen to some music asap. Let’s spin a couple. These first two have Grant Green in the lineup. Jack McDuff - Goodnight, It’s Time To Go 1961 Prestige PR 7220. This is a great sounding copyπŸ‘Œ. The seams are holding on haha. Let’s look at the Killah lineup:
Jack McDuff - organ
Harold Vick - tenor saxophone
Grant Green - guitar
Joe Dukes - drums
Booyah!πŸ”₯☝️. Love that lineup. This was recorded
July 14, 1961 at Van Gelder Studio, Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. I picked the right one to get me out of that funky mood haha. Hope your day is a good one. One day closer to that weekend aaaaaaaoooooh!πŸ‘ŒβœŒοΈ by @natroy33

Out here in the Asheville North Carolina area so I had to stop by a record store ya know I just wanted to see what goodies they had in the stacks. Harvest Records in Asheville was the store I checked out and I walked around the whole store and definitely like their used record representation πŸ‘Œ. Finding cheap heat is the name of the game. It’s always cool to see what is popular in the area. Working towards that weekend spin session. Hope your week is flying by like mine is✌️ by @natroy33

While Bernard Purdie hunting at Daydream Records the other day I found this one has him on it. Aretha Franklin - With Everything I Feel In Me 1974 Colombia. Aretha Franklin – vocals, acoustic piano
Ken Bichel – synthesizer (3, 6, 7), Fender Rhodes electric piano (4)
Margaret Branch – background vocals
Brenda Bryant – background vocals
Hugh McCracken – guitar (1–6, 8, 9)
Cornell Dupree – guitar (1–9)
Gordon Edwards – bass guitar (1, 2)
Chuck Rainey – bass guitar (3–5, 7–9)
Bernard Purdie – drums (1–4, 6)
Grady Tate – drums (5, 9)
Steve Gadd – drums (7)
Albhy Galuten – synthesizer (3)
Hamish Stuart – percussion (7)
Ralph MacDonald – percussion (7)
Robbie McIntosh – percussion (7)
Arif Mardin – string arrangements (1–4), horn arrangements (2, 4, 6, 7), synthesizer arrangements (3)
The Memphis Horns – horns (5, 9)
Andrew Love – tenor saxophone (5, 9), tenor sax solo (9)
Ed Logan – tenor saxophone (5, 9)
Wayne Jackson – trumpet (5, 9)
James Mitchell – baritone saxophone (5, 9)
Jack Hale – trombone (5, 9)

Leon Pendarvis – Hammond organ (7)
Pat Rebillot – Mellotron (3)
Pat Smith – background vocals

The attic alien has requested more Bernard Purdie. Well I hear you attic alien let’s spin Bernard Purdie - Soul Drums 1967 Date TEM 3006. I saw this posted earlier and in their description they said Bernard is putting on a drum clinic and I would agree this is some of the most awesome and at times intense drumming I have heard in a while πŸ’―πŸ”₯πŸ˜Άβ€πŸŒ«οΈβ›½οΈπŸ‘ŒπŸ₯. Lots of yelling while the testifying is going on πŸš€πŸŒ—πŸ€˜. Here is the lineup:
Bernard "Pretty" Purdie – drums, shouting vocals
Seldon Powell – tenor saxophone, flute
Buddy Lucas – tenor saxophone, flute, baritone saxophone, shouting vocals
Billy Butler – guitar
Eric Gale – guitar
Richard Tee – piano, Hammond organ, arranger
Bob Bushnell – bass
This album is like a drum lesson in lots of different styles all on one Album. Pretty Purdie is definitely displaying the goods and I would safely say that he is definitely the star of the show. Great lineup on this one. If you see this one out there grab immediately you won’t be sorry. If you like good drumming then this is your album. Check another album with Bernard Purdie off the list Booyah! Weekends are never long enough πŸ™„. Oh well hope you had a great weekend ✌️ by @natroy33

Frank Zappa - Waka/Jawaka 1972 Bizarre Reprise 2094. This is the sequel album of sorts to Hot Rats. This was recorded April 17–21 and May 5, 1972 at Paramount Studios, Los Angeles, California. This is the fourth solo album by Frank and 15th album counting his The Mothers Of Invention albums. I’m seeing this listed under Jazz Fusion. Let’s check out that lineup:

This is some Rad music. The directions they take the music is a very interesting and entertainingly enjoyable journey. Any fans of this one out there? I am really digging this one for my first listen and spin of this πŸ”₯album. I like to just save it for the spinning and skip the streaming if possible and if I can hear it for the first time on the record player I like to think I’m checking it out like so many before me did back in the day. πŸ’―β›½οΈπŸ”₯πŸ‘ŒβœŒοΈ by @natroy33

Hello Record Player. A lil cool and rainy outside and I have to do the normal laundry and cleaning so why not spin some records. I have been chatting with some of you about this album. Tom Fogerty - Excalibur 1972 Fantasy. This is Tom’s second solo album after leaving Creedence Clearwater Revival. He grabbed his pals and recorded some cool albums. When you look at who is in the lineup it makes complete sense on some of the jams on this album. Tom’s voice sounds a lot like his brother John’s voice. In a lot of ways this feels like a collaboration of CCR and the Jerry Garcia Band. Here is the lineup:
β€’ Tom Fogerty – guitar, harmonica, vocals
β€’ Jerry Garcia – lead guitar, pedal steel guitar (Grateful Dead)
β€’ Merl Saunders – keyboards, backing vocals
β€’ John Kahn – bass (Fender bass)
β€’ Bill Vitt – drums, congas, percussion
See what I mean it’s 1972 Jerry Garcia playing guitar and pedal steel jamming with Merle Saunders which is an awesome combo in itself. The boys John Kahn on bass and Bill Vitt on drums create some awesome grooves. Then you toss in those vocals I like this one a lot. All you Jerry Garcia hunters ya gotta grab this one πŸ’―β›½οΈπŸ”₯. Hope your having a day filled with good music and good people✌️ by @natroy33

Genre Hop! How about some late night Bluegrass? Tony Rice - Native American 1988 (2024 Rounder/Real Gone Music Root Beer variant). Haven’t listened to this one in a min. This album jams. Lots of cool talent in the lineup:
Tony Rice – guitar, vocals
Vassar Clements – fiddle
Jerry Douglas – dobro
Robbie Magruder – drums
Mark Schatz – bass
Rico Petrucelli – bass
Wyatt Rice – guitar
John Jennings – guitar
John Edwards – harmonica, background vocals
Jimmy Gaudreau – mandolin
Mary Chapin Carpenter – harmony vocals, background vocals
Jon Carroll – piano, keyboards, background vocals
Great sounding recordings by Bill Wolf who is the engineer, mixing engineer, and producer. What is your favorite song off this album? Love how much Gordon Lightfoot Tony recorded. All the instrumentation sounds awesome! It’s not my favorite Tony Rice album but it is a really good one. Hope your late night spin session is as fun as mine πŸ‘ŒβœŒοΈβ›½οΈ by @natroy33
