First night back in Tokyo I left my bag on the train, I filed a claim with the railroad and by the time I was done it was too late to check into my hotel. Without my belongings or a place to stay I walked to the road from Shinjuku to Shibuya that i would commute last summer. It was quiet. After bumming the Wi-Fi from a closed cafe to call my lover l spent the night in the garden of the Togo Shrine beneath a covering of wind chimes. In the morning I passed through Yoyogi park and met the elders who first welcomed me into their tai chi practice, I gave them the chocolate I brought from LA. As the city awoke I made my way to the bakery that is only vegan on Sunday’s and partook in communion. I ate glutinously while talking to the man from San Francisco. He told me 2 weeks was not enough time, I said the same of 2 months—maybe this is the time difference between the west and east coast? With no word yet from the railroad I coined a payphone to find that it was there waiting for me in Shinagawa. by @natrubenson
