Today is my birthday so here's the set I performed in the Tonight Show earlier this year! (Part 1 of 2)

This has mostly been a good year. I obtained a nephew with very little effort on my part. I did standup on the Tonight Show. I toured a lot. I traveled Japan for 2 weeks and was my cousin's best man at his wedding in Hirosaki. And I've nearly finished another huge creative project, which I still can't announce.

It was also hard, mostly the months-long process of packing up my childhood home in Manhattan. But in a lot of ways, it was the first good year in a while. I feel old but I know that, if I'm lucky, I'll someday realize how young I was.

Official photos from Tonight Show official photographer @toddowyoung! (And then some from my phone)

This was the best day I've had in a long time. In retrospect, it's insane that my first standup set on national TV was new material that I'd never performed for an audience, but everyone at the Tonight Show was so supportive, treated me like a professional, and seemed genuinely excited for me, so I barely thought about it at the time.

Thanks to everyone who watched. I know it was a tiny set but it was a huge deal for me.

Thank you to @quick.megan for supporting me and having faith in me always. Thanks to @mikedruckerisdead and @natashavaynblat for helping me out. Thanks to @Maeveinamerica for all of her recommendations when I was in Ireland, especially the bog bodies. Thanks to everyone who came out to watch with me that night!

Also, go follow @alienreese, who made her late night debut with me and was very nice about ruthlessly defeating me in the audience vote.

I proposed to Megan at Coney Island, right after we stepped off of the Cyclone. We are in love and now we are engaged to be married!

This is one of our favorite places in the world. We visit many times every summer. We helped defeat a proposed casino that would have cast a shadow on these exact photos! It's also where my great-grandfather proposed to my great-grandmother, before the Cyclone was even built.

We laid in the sand all day and swam in the ocean. We ate burgers at Ruby's and watched the fireworks from the boardwalk, then rode the Wonder Wheel. The swinging cars swung more than we were prepared for. All in all, a perfect summer beach day in New York. I love you, Megan. taken in Coney Island Beach & Boardwalk by @nattowsen

Raised By Clowns.

Had a great Christmas-themed talk with the hilarious @nattowsen (The Tonight Show, The Onion). We talked about holiday editions of comic books but also his childhood as a boy raised by clowns!

Listen to My New Thing! It’s funny.

An overdue thank you to everyone who made The Heat of the Moment possible! We packed Caveat on a Saturday afternoon for a show about climate change. Wild!

At the end of the show, I said:

Power is not built alone. Resist the urge to be too cool for “someone else's thing” and join a group that reflects your values. For me, that's the group that (with Zohran!) passed the biggest Green New Deal bill in America, the DSA Ecosocialists.

If you've been thinking about joining…fascism isn't going away any time soon. Let today be the day you get involved, even if only by giving a few bucks a month. If you have questions, ask below or DM!

Thanks to our amazing performers. Thank you to our allies at DSA & Public Power who came out to help people join the movement. Thank you to Caveat for hosting us. taken in Caveat by @nattowsen
