This was another great find... we originally went to Lanark loch to find a Great Crested Grebe, unfortunatly we didnt find what we wanted to but stumbled across these mallard ducklings. There must have been about 9 or so of them.

Yet again another bird that is very popular but is fantastic to see and watch 🐦🦆

When this beautiful bird was seen at one of the local lochs we took advantage of the opportunity 😀 It was the first time ive seen a Duck of such wonderful colors ❤️🤙🏻

Fun Fact - In East Asian culture, mandarin ducks are often seen as symbols of love and lifelong partnership because pairs are known for forming strong bonds. Meanwhile regular ducks are out there looking like they got dressed in the dark.

Walking around Lanark Loch was pretty successful for bird snaps, I went to put camera away and then noticed this blackbird pirching on this rock. Does ot have 1 leg or is it tucking its other leg up? I have no idea 🤣🤣

Fun Fact - Blackbirds can build a mental map of food locations and will revisit reliable feeding spots, basically running their own tiny GPS system without needing to scream at sat nav.

Saw this House sparrow and even though they are common it was nice to see.

This one looks like a pretty young juvenile so was also adding to the worth of the capture.

Like the rest of the sparrows I seem to get his was also taken in Spain

This was actually my first shot of a Wren, before this i dont think i had actually seen one before.

There were 2 shots that i managed to snap.. one of the wren looking at camera which is already on my page and then this one.

Pretty chuffed with both 😄 by @naturewithethan

Another common bird here in the UK.. the Common Black Bird. Spotted this in spain whilst out at the local bird hide, it was sitting about 6ft above me so was rather easy to get a close up shot, and also because it was unusually sunny and bright in spain I didnt have to use much ISO 🌞🤣

One thing i didnt realise about black birds was when choosing their mate, females mostly look at the color of a male’s beak. The brighter and more orange the beak, the healthier the male.

Another one from spain. First time seeing a 'Little Egret' and what a fantastic looking bird. There was a group of about 9 of them hanging around but even then it took me over 20 shots to get a clear flying shot.. 🐦🤙🏻

Those bright yellow feet aren't just for show — they use them to stir up fish and other prey in shallow water before striking with lightning speed. 🪽🤍

What a beast of a bird. The Eagle owl is a Magnificent bird, needs more credit than we give!

Eurasian eagle-owls are one of the largest owls and have a wingspan that can reach up to six feet.

Nothing beats a good old robin 🤙🏻🐦

Because of high mortality in the first year of life, a robin has an average life expectancy of 1.1 years; however, once past its first year, life expectancy increases. One robin has been recorded as reaching 19 years of age.

I know its not my usual kind of bird photo but i do think that Carrion Crows are definitely underrated. I do enjoy watching them 🌲🤙🏻

Crow Fact - Carrion crows can recognise individual human faces and remember who’s been good to them… or who’s been messing with them.

Whilst in spain I was expecting to see more exotic birds than I see in the UK... did i? Mostly house sparrows 🤣🤣 luckily though I got to see this baby sparrow which was a treat 🌲🐦

Baby bird fact - Many baby birds have brightly coloured mouths and throat markings because those colours act like a “feed me!” target, helping parents quickly spot where to deliver food.
