This post combines the true excellence of classic British yacht building and car manufacturing with family-owned M.Y. ARLETTE II by Camper & Nicholsons and Bentley Mk VI (chassis No. B117HP), in post-war St.Tropez... #gee2mtcars #vintagebentley #gentlemansyacht by @nautical_and_more

Probably, at the time, the best and safest car for long-distance, high-speed journeys across the Continent… One we enjoyed from 1968 to 1972, particularly on our trips from the South of France to Holland, with a stopover in Ettlingen, Germany.

The mighty ‘W100’ was unveiled at the Frankfurt International Motor Show in September 1963, with production beginning the following year and ending in June 1981.

M.Y. Branta (25m) - hard to believe these pictures were taken 60 years ago! Designed by André Mauric (1909-2003) and built in 1965 by the famous ESTÉREL Shipyard in Cannes, she was driven by a pair of 12-cylinder General Motors oil engines, each developing 480hp, and could reach a top speed of 20 knots and cruise at 17. #chantierdelesterel #andremauric by @nautical_and_more

The 85.5-ft motor-yacht CAMPEADOR was designed by Norman Hart and built by Cochrane & Sons, Ltd. at Selby in 1934. She was commissioned by Vernon William MacAndrew, a keen yachtsman who owned a succession of large motor-yachts. She luckily survived the war and can be seen here in Saint-Tropez in 1948 and in Cannes in the early 1960s.

The graceful motor yacht BOUNTY was launched at Camper & Nicholsons’ Gosport yard in April 1936. She was a semi-custom yacht and the last of a series of five or six yachts built by C&N, mostly on spec, between 1930 and 1936. Although her design by Charles E. Nicholson shared similar external lines with Romara and Bystander, Bounty’s original layout differed in that it was designed to provide maximum comfort for her owner and his wife, with accommodation for just two guests.

Her first owner was a gentleman of means who sailed her both before and throughout the Second World War. During the war, she served with the Inshore Yacht Patrol, armed with an Oerlikon-Bührle naval anti-aircraft gun. She also played a prominent role in the evacuation of Dunkirk (Operation Dynamo), reportedly rescuing no fewer than 1,000 troops.

Today, Bounty remains outwardly almost identical to how she looked when launched 90 years ago! Her interior accommodation, however, has been modified in places to increase the guest capacity from four to six. At just under 24 metres in length, with a displacement of 67 tonnes, she can reach a top speed of 10.6 knots. Having seen her in Formentor this summer, she appears to be based at Port de Pollença, Mallorca, Spain.

The iconic Trampolino, Elli Beach, Rhodes. Built in the late 1930s, this legendary diving board remains a striking example of the modernist architecture introduced during the Italian occupation (internet find - DM for credit). by @nautical_and_more
