This painting is extra special. My mom had been asking me to paint Madhubala for over a year now. I kept postponing it, thinking I’d wait until I could truly do justice to her beauty. After all, she’s Madhubala, the epitome of grace and timeless charm. 💫 Initially she asked me to paint her in black and white since she belonged to that era. But when I came across this reference photo, I knew I had to bring her to life in color. So here she is, my version of Madhubala, finally complete. ❤️🎨 #watercolorsketch #watercolor_flowers #watercolor_portrait #watercolour_gallery #watercolorpainting #watercolourpaint #watercolor_art #watercolour_channel #madhubala #madhubala✨ by @navyapaints

I completely lost myself in the details of this one, and honestly, I loved every single second of it. 🤍 This commission truly came at the absolute perfect time. For the longest time, I felt like I was just doing very basic pencil shading, and I’ve been so eager to level up my game and explore more realistic portrait work. Right after wrapping up my third semester, this order landed in my lap it honestly felt meant to be! If you know me, you know my schedule is always incredibly hectic. To make things even crazier, right after I accepted this piece, another urgent commission came in: a massive A3, double-face portrait packed with details that I had to finish in just one week 🙈 Juggling that was tough, but I have to give a massive shoutout to the client for this portrait. He was unbelievably generous and patient. He gave me almost 20 days with absolutely no strict deadline. Having that kind of freedom made all the difference. Because there was no pressure to just "get it done" quickly, I didn't have to fall back on my basic techniques. I was able to dedicate all my time, energy, and focus into exploring new depths and working on this wholeheartedly to bring out the absolute best result! Watercolors can feel intimidating when you're trying to layer colors without making them look muddy. Here is the exact 5-step process used to paint this vibrant bluebird. Swipe ➡️ Want to skip the guesswork and learn watercolor techniques like this with real-time guidance? Online art classes are open for both absolute beginners and anyone looking to refine their style Send a DM to @canvasnconcepts to get started, and save this post to try during your next studio session! [Watercolor painting, watercolor, watercolor bird painting, art class, painting class, online art class, drawing classes] #stepbystep #watercolor #watercolorpainting #artclasses #watercolorclass 1. The Base Layer: Start with your sketch and a very light wash of cerulean blue. The trick here is leaving blank white spaces of paper, it keeps the piece bright and creates instant highlights. 2. Adding Warmth: Layer cobalt blue onto the body. For the belly, apply a thin, watery mix of orange and crimson, then add a quick stroke of blue right over it. Leaving tiny white gaps in the blue sections easily mimics the texture of soft feathers. 3. Defining the Features: Bring out the sharp details. Use prussian blue for the lines on the wings and tail, and switch to payne's grey for the eyes, beak, and feet. 4. Building Contrast: Darken the head feathers with more cerulean blue, add a second thin wash to the belly, and use burnt sienna to paint the main branch. Make sure your brush strokes follow the natural curve and flow of the bird's body. 5. The Final Details: Mix burnt sienna and payne's grey together for the darker lower branch and twigs. Finish the piece by popping in the leaves using a vibrant mix of sap green and lemon yellow. Want to skip the guesswork and learn watercolor techniques like this with real-time guidance? 🔮 The painter from the future 🔮 Decades before abstract art became a movement, Hilma af Klint was already there, painting swirling symbols, cosmic geometries, and visions she believed came from beyond the visible world. While history celebrated her male contemporaries, her groundbreaking work remained hidden for years. Today, her paintings feel less like relics of the past and more like messages waiting to arrive. #artistic #arthistory #abstractartists #womenartist #modernart Art history History of art Hidden figures in art Hidden figures Artist's life Abstract art Modern art Hilma AF Klint by @navyapaints

Mom’s been nudging me for years to paint Madhubala but I kept putting it off. Until this photo stopped me in my tracks. Worked patiently, stroke by stroke... and now? It’s a milestone in my watercolor journey. Honestly? I’ve never been prouder of a piece. And I absolutely LOVE how she turned out. {Watercolor painting, watercolour, portrait, portrait painting, madhubala, artwork, art, indian art, indian cinema, indian celebrity} #watercolor #watercolor_daily #watercolourpainting #watercolor_portrait #artstudio #artwork #madhubala #bollywood by @navyapaints
