1 in 3 women will experience intimate partner violence in their lifetime.

Homicide is a leading cause of death for pregnant and postpartum women—and nearly half of those deaths involve an intimate partner

Enough is enough

Mahalo @ilimanator @nawahinetoa @kaleiokalahui for this intimate training.

It’s vulnerable to revisit the memories of violence our bodies carry. In the right hui of wāhine, true healing can occur. by @nawahinetoa

True strength isn’t about learning how to fight—it’s about having the confidence to stand up for yourself and others. 🤙🏽💪🏽💯

At the @hawaiifitexpo , we had the opportunity to talk story with Ilima-Lei Macfarlane about two initiatives that are creating a lasting impact across our islands. 🙌🏽

Through Warriors Don’t Bully, @ilimanator is helping our keiki build confidence, learn self-defense, and develop the courage to stand up against bullying. She also shared the mission behind the Nā Wahine Toa Foundation, empowering Native Hawaiian women through self-defense, leadership, and helping them discover the warrior that’s already within them. 🔥

These programs are about more than physical strength—they’re about building confidence, resilience, and a stronger Hawaiʻi for the next generation. ❤️

As a mom, one of the hardest parts of parenting is knowing I can’t be with my girls every second of every day.

I can’t walk them into every room or protect them from every difficult person they’ll meet. At some point, they have to spread their wings a little and start making decisions on their own. (which is lowkey terrifying tbh)

That’s why opportunities like this matter so much to me.

And yes, I absolutely want my girls to be tough. I want them to be confident. I want them to know how to protect themselves and hold their own if they ever have to.

But I also want them to have good judgment. To trust their instincts. To know when to walk away, when to speak up, when to ask for help, and when something just doesn’t feel right.

The goal isn’t to raise kids who are scared of the world. The goal is to raise kids who are prepared for it.

Kids who can think for themselves, make good decisions, and carry themselves with confidence even when I’m not there.

I’ll be honest, we’re in a tough season of parenting right now. There have been mistakes, hard conversations, and moments where I’ve had to remind myself that my job isn’t to react to every mistake. My job is to help guide them through it. (easier said than done tho)

Because growing up means making mistakes. And parenting means having the patience to teach through those moments, even when it’s hard.

Side note: Check on your friends with teenage daughters and send help 😩😭😂 and a biggggg mahalo to all the hands that made this experience possible @nawahinetoa @yancymedeiros @ilimanator @wolffsden_hawaii @34spartan @mightym_tabios @hawaiifitexpo

Along Turtle Island, the Americas, a regeneration of youth find themselves once again drawn to the sea. Like turtles, with an internal biological homing instinct.

@nativelikewater celebrates this natural occurrence by promoting Indigenous water warriors and Positive Vibes. We thank the Human Family for stoking the fire within. We salute our cousins, relatives, who donate to this cause. Like our brothers @danedamus @patrickgud @positivevibewarriors

Native Like Water recognizes our work with communities in California and Mexico this month and next as folks across the continent celebrate Indigenous Peoples Days, days of remembering, days of celebration of life, of reckoning, and a re-calibration of our natural existence along the coast and in the sea.

If you are in So Cal and can Donate water tight Grom size surfboards, DM us. Regardless of your location, you may donate monetarily. In particular, we are looking to support our programs in Mexico (Baja Kumiai and Mainland Nahua Communities) which have little funding and great need. Donate Link in Bio Thank you all.
