“Grandchildren are the dots that connect the lines from generation to generation, filling the heart with endless joy.” #johnallenc #myleshenryi #wyattrayi #piecesofnaynaysheart by @naynay525

On September 11, 2001, when the Twin Towers collapsed, almost everything around them was destroyed.

But in the middle of the destruction, workers found a small Callery pear tree that survived, even though it was terribly damaged.
The tree was taken to a nursery in the Bronx. Slowly, new branches and leaves began to grow.

In 2010, it was returned to the World Trade Center site and planted at the 9/11 Memorial near the South Pool.

The tree still shows some of its scars. Its new branches grow from where it was damaged.
Its scars became part of its story.

The Survivor Tree is a beautiful reminder that God brings hope out of devastation, strength out of weakness, and new life out of what seems lost.

May we never forget 9/11/01—and may we never forget that even in the darkest places, God is still at work. by @naynay525
