for Cultivar Issue 01: Transience

Nothing stays the same for long in the tropics. The
sun bleaches the vibrant to the muted, the sudden
downpours vanish as quickly as they arrive, the
humidity soften edges and unravels our surfaces.
There is a particular kind of beauty in things that do
not last— in those transient entities.

A garment that carries the memory of soil. The
dress as it was always meant to be: a living thing,
grown from the earth, worn close to the body, and
in time, returned. Not discarded. A homecoming.

What if fashion were to give in to this climate? To
fray, to compost, then to return? What would remain
valuable?

When nothing stays the same, what do we
choose to carry forward?

CLASH is a first date between two totally opposite individuals. In a world where online dating is acceptable and normalised even across borders, meet our main protagonist, a spunky, full-of-life and expressive girl from Tokyo. Accompanying her, is a reserved and traditional Singaporean man.

Do sparks fly? Or does it all come crashing down and labelled as the “worst first date ever”?
