Happy 251st Birthday to the United States Navy!

Today, we recognize the generations of sailors who have served our nation with courage, dedication, and commitment.

At NCHV, we believe honoring their service also means ensuring that Navy veterans, and all who have worn the uniform, have access to the housing, support, and opportunities they deserve.

With deep sadness, we share the passing of NCHV co-founder Ralph Cooper on September 26, 2026.

An Air Force veteran, Ralph dedicated decades to helping fellow veterans access housing, benefits and supportive services. He helped establish NCHV in 1990 and was a mentor and friend to generations of people working to end veteran homelessness.

“Ralph was a problem solver, a leader, an inspiration, a mentor, and a friend to all who worked on ending veteran homelessness,” said NCHV CEO Kathryn Monet.

We extend our condolences to his wife, Deneice Kennebrew Cooper, his family and all who knew and loved him. We honor Ralph by continuing the work he helped begin.

The work to end veteran homelessness is built on relationships and a shared commitment to see it through.

At last week’s Bob Woodruff Foundation National Got Your 6 Summit in San Francisco, NCHV CEO Kathryn Monet reconnected with some of the architects of the movement to end veteran homelessness and those who continue to move the mission forward.

These connections span decades of work and a mission that continues: helping communities ensure veterans have access to housing, employment, and the support to stay housed. We’re grateful to be doing that work alongside people who remain committed to it.

Good morning from Tampa! 👋🏾

I’m at #MIC2026 for Day 3, and today I’m taking you with me around the exhibit hall.

There’s a lot happening here — organizations, companies, advocates and people from across the military-connected community all in one place.

I’m going to walk around, see what’s happening, meet some folks and give you a little look at what MIC is all about.

Let’s take a walk. 👀

Twenty-five years later, we remember September 11, 2001.

We remember the lives lost, the families changed forever, and the first responders who answered a call no one should ever have to make.

We also remember the service members who stepped forward in the aftermath and the veterans who came home carrying the lasting effects of their service.

At the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, our work is rooted in a simple commitment: those who served our country should have a safe place to call home.

Today, we honor those we lost and those who served in the years that followed by continuing that work.

We remember. We honor. We serve.

POV: you just watched 45 MILES of pure commitment 🛹🔥

Last Saturday, DC Wheels and friends took over the streets from Maryland to Virginia to D.C. for a 45-mile Skate-A-Thon supporting NCHV.

9+ hours. 3 states. Rain or shine. And a whole lot of people showing up for the mission. 🙌

Big love to everyone who skated, volunteered, cheered, sponsored, or helped make it happen. And a huge thank you to DC Wheels for putting NCHV on the route. ❤️

45 miles later... Ride on! 🛹
