2 years ago, I found this car at a shop I was working at in naples. The shop has since taken new ownership and more then likely is in a much better place then when I worked there, but that’s where this story began nonetheless.

I had lost my car in a car accident, and was borrowing cars from my boss to get to and from work. We made an arrangement for me to get a car from our shop’s resale inventory, and he would help teach me to do whatever we needed for it.

It was between this @lexususa 2001 Is300 and a 1999 @bmw 3 series E46. The only problem was the BMW was in much better shape and therefore more expensive, and honestly, I had to take what I can get.

So we got the Lexus and I replaced the A/C compressor and condenser first, then I replaced a submerged fuel line in the tank connecting to the fuel pump. Then we very crudely pulled out the front end damaged (one day I’ll get it fixed right cause it’s still kinda fucked up.) managed to get the bumpers back on it and we felt like it was suitable enough to at least drive!

Then 3 days later, the oil pump went out. Two pistons were damaged, and there was no more driving the car without destroying what was left of this beautiful machine…

Shawty had a coolant leak recently, fixed that. Then the hose for the brake booster split, patched that, still a lot of investing to do, but she’s more together every day! 🤩

And then just like that. It was done. It hadn’t even felt like a year, but it was. We got the car registered, and the day I put the plate back on it, it was all worth it.

Ignore my dumb ass not knowing what I was talking about, “this is the thing your rpm’s read” ~pfft, gimme a break, I was tired and new to all of this. It’s a miracle she even came together so well.

So we waited for new pistons and various parts that I would lose due to my very poor organization skills at the time, it was getting to a point where the bmw would have been cheaper, but everything I took off and cleaned or had painted was drawing me closer and closer to falling in love with this car.

Then finally, after a year of work, I finally put the head back on, and was a few hours away from dropping it in…
