The U.S. News’ 2026 Best Education School rankings are out, and our college has hit new highs:

🎉We are the No. 1 ranked college of education in North Carolina.
🎉We are ranked No. 7 among public colleges of education in the nation.
🎉We are ranked No. 26 among all colleges of education in the nation.

“Our College of Education will celebrate 100 years in 2027, and these rankings are one reflection of the progress and impact we’ve made over all these years, bringing together amazing faculty, staff, students, alumni and partners who embrace our shared vision to expand educational access and success for all learners,” said College of Education Dean Paola Sztajn. “I am grateful to all members of our community for their hard work and commitment to preparing extraordinary educators, conducting research that is impactful and engaging communities where they are. We recently held our inaugural PACKED Summit! The Practical Applications for Classroom Knowledge and Educator Development (PACKED) Summit is a reenvisioning of the Beginning Teacher Institute, which was last held in 2019.

We were able to provide two days of practical, hands-on development for beginning teachers from across North Carolina.

The Edgecombe Early College High School (EECH) Scholar Teachers Program — started by our alum Matt Bristow-Smith ’14MSA — provides outstanding high school students in Edgecombe County who desire to become teachers with an advanced preparatory program.

💭 We were able to have four students in the Scholar Teachers Program attend our 2026 Leadership Institute for Future Teachers (LIFT) program this summer. Hear from Glitch, Reuben, Yaya, and Kiyonna on how Scholar Teachers prepares them for programs like LIFT and the impact that their teacher, Ms. Webb, has had on them. by @ncstateced

❤️ Leadership Institute for Future Teachers (LIFT) 2026 🤘

Over six days, we were able to watch students interested in teaching who are rising high school seniors in North Carolina grow, connect and prepare to be extraordinary educators. Through many different field-based school activities, interacting with leaders in education and exploring career options in education and related fields, they were able to dive into the field of education.

We are so proud of our LIFT 2026 cohort and are excited for the amazing things each and every one of you will do.
