Exec spotlight!! Introducing Caitlyn Smart our Service Coordinator!
Hey! I’m Caitlyn (you can call me Cait) 🤎
I’m a senior with a goal of becoming a humanitarian doctor 🩺. I’m passionate about healthcare, serving others, and making a difference in communities around the world. I’ve had the opportunity to volunteer with MEDLIFE in Costa Rica, work with newborns at an orphanage in Tanzania, and serve at an orphanage in my South African hometown.
I work at Outdoor Adventures and am involved with Antioch Church. Outside of school, I love traveling with my family, hiking, staying active at F45 (biceps duh), exploring new places, and, of course, being a cookie monster 🍪
AED has been a space where I could get advice about classes but also be able to decompress and joke about life when it gets too stressful! My favorite memories have to be from mornings in clinic at Costa Rica and afternoons on the beach sharing about our lives! by @ncsuaed

Hi! My name is Manaswini, and I am currently a junior with aspirations to attend medical school (strongly considering anesthesiology). Outside of school, I volunteer at the UNC Rex Cancer Center as a physical therapy intern and am also actively involved in the volunteer program at Multicultural Student Affairs at NC State. Currently, I work as an undergraduate research assistant at Dr. HR’s comparative anatomy and functional morphology lab (I get to perform primate dissections every week; it is very cool). On main campus, I have been a Resident Advisor for over a year, which has given me great insight into student residential life and the opportunity to hone my leadership and event-planning skills. In my downtime, I absolutely love spending time with friends any chance I get by playing ping pong, billiards, have game nights, etc. AED has been a big part of my premed journey throughout college, and it has given me more exposure to what I intend to do with my career. I have also loved all social and service events in the past, and am so grateful that I now get to be a part of organizing our social calendar :) Cannot wait to plan more fun events and make new memories! by @ncsuaed

Hello! I’m a junior studying Biological Sciences: Human Biology. Some things I’m actively doing includes, self lead collaborative research with the department of biological sciences at NCSU, and I’m part of MED-LIFE here at NCSU. I enjoy hiking, weight lifting, swimming, and traveling!
I joined AED because I wanted to find a community of other students who were also interested in pursuing some health profession in the future. by @ncsuaed

Introducing our first exec member: Pledge Coordinator! Hi my name is Caroline and I am a current Senior graduating this fall. My career goal is to become a PA and I plan on applying this upcoming cycle. I have volunteered at UNC Rex in the past and plan on volunteering at WakeMed on the MICU floor this year! I am a certified EMT and I currently work as a MA/Scribe at a family medicine practice. I also play for the NCSU women’s club soccer team! I love hanging out with my friends, cooking, baking and painting when I have time! AED has been an amazing community to be a part of. I have met so many friends and those wanting to go down the same path as me! I have loved being able to volunteer through AED as well as explore many specialties while listening to guest speakers! by @ncsuaed
