@theborrowbarco did not leave the Startup Showdown last night with a wonderfully oversized check, but I had a great time nonetheless. (Honestly, @johnnie_lonerider is more disappointed than I am. Forever the competitor!)

I couldn't be more proud to have worked alongside each of the nominees, and I look forward to watching all their entrepreneurial pursuits SOAR in the coming years. My next sprint? It starts today! We're putting our heads down and getting our launch inventory online, so you Wake County folks can start borrowing for the busy holiday hosting season ahead. More to come, friends! by @ncsulilwolf

Big news! 🎉 I am officially in the running for up to $30,000 in startup funding for my newest venture, @theborrowbarco—and I need your vote!

I’ve always been passionate about an intentional, minimal-waste lifestyle, keeping things clean and purposeful in my daily routine. That same philosophy is the heart of The Borrow Bar. We offer membership-based access to high-end household and hosting goods right here in Wake County. It’s all about access over ownership—getting that margarita machine or outdoor projector for the weekend without cluttering your counters and closets.

After winning the Wake Tech Blueprint to Skyline competition, I pitched to 4 “Shark Tank”-style judges for the SBCN Start Up Showdown. Now, the community vote serves as the 5th and final judge!

Here’s how to vote (it takes 10 seconds!):
✨ Click the YouTube link in my bio! (https://youtu.be/O2oMZbTOw8Q)
✨ Hit the “LIKE” button on the video. (Likes = Votes!)

Voting closes Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 5 p.m. I’m so excited to launch our limited beta for 50 members this month. Thank you for always supporting my wild ideas and helping me bring this one to life! 🥂 #TheBorrowBar #RaleighNC #StartupShowdown #WakeTech #CircularEconomy #AccessOverOwnership by @ncsulilwolf

Happy first day, @thethirdperch! Friends, I'll be here posted up on my laptop until 1/1:30 p.m. or so if you'd like to stop by for a ☕ on me. I'm so proud of Jacob and team and thrilled that @rmg_reg was able to help them take flight in bringing this new landing place for #HollySpringsNC into service today. 🪹 taken in The Perch by @ncsulilwolf

Dad would have hated all the production—in fact, I was quite sure he was going to send a thunderstorm today to Montlawn. 😜 It was, however, a perfectly sunny day.

Montlawn is a special place for our family. Looking out from the mausoleum, Dad now rests overlooking Granny Shirley and Grandpa Bruce. It feels entirely fitting that family remains close together, especially for how mom and dad spent their adult lives deeply caring for their parents—from renovating their house to welcome Grandpa Bruce home to making daily visits to Grandma Nellie at Bella Rose.

Mom and Dad shared over fifty years together, building a foundation of support for us girls that has enabled us to aim high and achieve anything we are willing to work towards accomplishing. Mom and Dad took on everything side by side—including raising two full-speed-ahead teenage daughters. Dad might have been a reserved man, but he was steadfast and absolute.

In recent years, Dad embraced some of his new favorite roles. He was the family news reporter on Facebook, always keeping up with everyone, including all the gossip from far and wide. He was the resident motor whisperer—something that likely still burns Johnnie up from recently when the Jeep wouldn't start, only for Dad to walk out and fire it up on the very first turn.

Above all, he loved being Papa. Allison was truly the apple of his eye, and his heart was big enough to embrace Bubby and Nora just the same.

We take comfort in knowing he is reconnected with Unce Brucie, Cozart, Dusty, Cheryl, and the many more friends gone before, and keeping a watchful eye on all of the happenings still going on here. Every time we drive past Montlawn, we can share a joke and say “thanks for calling”, and know he’s still here with us.

For those who would like to visit, the location is starred on the map pictured here. A plaque will be placed in the coming weeks. I also know Dad would be tickled to realize he has a famous new neighbor, one Mr. Charlie Gaddy. ❤️

Please join us to honor Dad's life on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2-4 p.m. at the Lake Wheeler Waterfront Center. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Raleigh's Interfaith Food Shuttle. taken in Montlawn Memorial Park, Funeral Home and Cremations by @ncsulilwolf
