Honestly, I don’t WANT to make people cry...but when you’re doing a surprise pet portrait as barter for a sweet deal ...@arleasmashcroft NOT crying would feel like a failure. Storm is just the sweetest guy and I know how much friendship and love he brings to his family. .

I’ve talked about this piece a lot. It’s really really important to point out that this is not a photo-referenced piece. The image is a collaboration with the clients and has many significant details to my own memories of prairie winter life in southern Manitoba in the 70’s and 80’s.
There’s so many connections that are made when I work on commissions. It’s why I do what I do.

‘Been thinking a lot about the women’s role in the true history of colonialism…This goes out to all the amazing ranch-women and female farmers in my life who have witnessed generations of oppression and are never acknowledged beyond backhanded mentions and martyrdom in the industry of farms, resources and landowners. Lots of Easter eggs is this one - feel free to zoom in.

I think I sorted it out, but now I have to stitch it all on. Should be finished around this time next year.

I love making people cry - particularly Moms. I don’t have a lot of time for commissions but managed to fit a few in this year. I especially love working with families and capturing their homes. “Herperger Homestead” 18”x24” acrylic on canvas.
