Why did a @notredameband member make sure to spend her few free minutes exploring a special exhibit during the recent @ndfootball - @badgerfootball Shamrock Series game?

The exhibit, “From the Gridiron to the Archives,” co-curated by @ndarchives and @uwmadlibraries and on display in the @packershof, brought the legacy of these two storied programs to life by exploring more than a century of shared football history between the two schools.

Find out what she—and nearly 7000 visitors—discovered and explore the exhibit in our feature story, Echoes of the Gridiron, at the News link in our bio. 🔗 A student wearing a blue and gold Notre Dame Band uniform looks into a glass display case filled with football memorabilia, including a red sweater with a white W. by @ndlibraries

Journey through the story of lives that have moved on, as seen through the materials that remained. A new photography exhibit at Hesburgh Library, in partnership with Professor Ian Kuijt, @notredame Department of Anthropology, documents Ireland's disappearing history through photos and composite panoramas from his 15 years of research on the Island of Inishbofin.

Photos focus on the central rooms of post-1900 buildings, exploring how materials on mantelpieces served as a display space and considering the material world left behind when Islanders moved away.

In the 1920s, a labor union held sporting events that welcomed all worker athletes, including non-white and women athletes, at a time when many sporting organizations had more restrictive rules.

In honor of Labor Day, the @ndrarebooks blog highlights a recently acquired set of real-photo postcards documenting the 1928 Labor Sports Union’s second annual “Labor Sports Olympics” held in Brooklyn.
