Tub replacement with discontinued Dal 4&1/4 . Couldn’t source enough quarter rounds but found some 4200’s to cut down for a few. The new tub is slightly smaller than the original but I was able to get it close. Light work, but my work. taken in Broderick by @nealanzotile

Tub surround to shower conversion, tying into a floor that’s older than me 🫶🏻 I had some fun on this one with some details. Hope you like it.

12x24 porcelain with matching bullnose trim and mosaic banding. This style was very popular when I was a kid. My dad and I have done a lot of these.

I put tons of backing behind these walls to ensure I can mount anything between the nitch and the outside of the shower. They aren’t planning on putting a shower door, but if they want to later there’s plenty of meat back there to screw into.

Went with the “Dinosaur” method, a Bob Stanaland Hot mop shower pan. Layers and layers of tar paper sandwich together with Hot tar creating a thick waterproof barrier. Yeah it stinks. Yeah, it’s an extra step with a pre-float involved, but just like anything, if it’s built right, it’ll last a lifetime. You cannot convince me that there is a more bulletproof method.

No plastic anchors anywhere, everything anchored through the mortar walls and screwed into lumber. Then sealed with silicone

Tying all this trim in was something I was looking forward too to since I started tiling. None of the Sheetrock was straight or plum, making these Asymmetric miters slightly more difficult to dial in tight. You probably won’t appreciate this detail if you’ve never attempted to do this.

A single glass panel will go here, set more to the outside of the shower to give a little more horizontal space for their “potions and lotions” 🧴

I love how the banding turned out. Glass smooth.
If this is not flush, it looks awful.

I decided to just ease and polish the edge of tile on top of the pony wall instead of doing some sharp miter. Crazy how the color almost matches the printed bullnose. Some details you want to stand out some details you want to disappear. This is one of those that I wanted to disappear. It also feels very nice to the touch, if you’re into that kind of thing. The end of this pony wall has a steal stiffener that runs through the slab beneath the floor, concreted and tied into the slab. I should’ve took more pictures of the framing because it was kind of cool, but I’m just a tile guy.🙃

Heath 2nd’s, wide hex twist 🔥

My client told me she stood in line for hours one day to buy these tiles, back in 2019!

Every time I get to play with Heath Ceramics, it’s special for me. It’s how this tile thing started for my family 🙏🏼🫶🏻 by @nealanzotile

If you’re unable to recess the subfloor to accommodate a curbless shower, a “slab pan” can serve as an alternative solution. by @nealanzotile
