Dang! I thought it was hard to leave VT during foliage but then Colorado ain’t so bad.
Got a week of highlights out here while traveling for work between Denver and Aspen. 80° days, lots of driving, lots of views, and chatting with kids about why it’s important to get out into our big beautiful world! 🌍

Maasai Land & Safari Days 🇹🇿

In Masaai culture women stay with the children near water sources, while men and husbands can be nomadic up to 6 months. It is common for Maasai men to have many wives. The women raise their children together and even sleep together, separate from their husbands.

Maasai Adolescents - perhaps the most interesting stage of malehood in Maasai culture. Adolescents from age 13-15 are circumcised. If they move, cry or make any noises during this process they are looked down upon and shamed by all others.
At this stage they dress in black and wear white face paint. Only once they’ve healed do they transition into warriors and wear the traditional colors.

We ate red bananas, camped in the Savannah each night and woke to the sounds of lions. It’s been a whirlwind, but a beautiful one. No better way to end our time than exploring the unique landscape and wildlife of Tanzania!

Hardest thing I’ve ever done & the most rewarding.
8 days of moving through climates, temperatures and changing altitudes with a group of students was equally beautiful and challenging. We conquered dust, mud, lack of oxygen, freezing cold starts and sleeps.
Hiking silently for 7 hours on summit day from midnight to 7am in zero degree temperatures is not for the faint of heart. I’d be lying to you if I said I didn’t burst out crying at the first sight of the sun.
Incredibly grateful to say every single of my students made it to the top and I couldn’t be more proud!
