Ive tinkered with new art recently, mainly drawing people. The use of reference photos of myself has been a huge help so that every person I draw doesn’t look absolutely absurd. I didn’t have much to say with this caption, I just wanted to kinda describe what’s going on here i guess. by @neat_ox

Thalassophobia: the persistent and intense fear of deep bodies of water, such as the ocean, seas, or lakes.

It is not by my own choice that bodies of water, even smaller swamps, frighten me deeply. Some bodies of water aren’t near as bad: When I can see, when I feel in control, I feel safe, I feel fine. But the very idea of being stuck in water with something that I can’t escape, that is the true terror. Swamps frighten me because I can’t escape what I can’t see. The water is their domain. I am prey.

Deep bodies of water frighten me somewhat for different reasons. Should there be a predator no one is aware of, that no one expects, then there is no fighting to be done. Survival is decided by it.

The water is a beautiful, hopeful domain. It is as much a terrifying reminder of the power of our natural world, a reminder that nature has a power that we do not control. And that frightens me.
