Render of the final bike!

These last days I've been working on finishing and retouching the bike to send the parts to be made.

The bike will have the @pinion.eu C1.12 gearbox, and will also have @gates.bicycle for the belt and pulleys. 
For the suspension system I use the @itracksuspension high pivot system, to have more control over the anti-squad.

Thanks to @kovabikes for helping me with the bonded costruction!

Some parts of the bike will arrive today or tomorrow, like the carbon tubes, so stay tuned!

Renders of a Bonded 3D-printed metal enduro prototype with carbon fiber tubes.

I’ve been quiet for a while. It’s my last year of high school, with a lot of exams to enter university, and with the bike industry being quite unstable, many projects had to be paused. On top of that, I also wanted to explore other areas of design beyond bikes, so I had to step back a bit.

The original plan was a fully one-piece 3D printed frame, but I realized that only the first frames were going to be sponsored. Any further iterations, especially to tune stiffness, would have to be paid by myself, and those are extremely expensive. On top of that, changing stiffness on a one-piece frame means redesigning and re-optimizing the whole structure. After testing, I wouldn’t really know if a stiffness change came from the top tube, the down tube or the BB area.

So I went for a clearer and more flexible solution: 3D printed metal parts for the head tube, BB and seat tube area, bonded with two carbon fiber tubes. This way, if I want to change stiffness, I only change those two tubes. If something feels different, I know exactly why. The variable is fully isolated. Even with thicker carbon walls compared to aluminum, the frame still ends up lighter than a full metal one, around 200 grams, but it all adds up.

The bike keeps the same enduro geometry and kinematics from my previous posts. I’m especially proud of the BB area and the rocker link. Design and renders were done in @solidworks , and the 3D printed parts were optimized using @ntopology 

Internal cable routing on the front triangle, external on the rear (full external also possible).

Finally, I’m part of the @solidworks @solidworksedu team.

In these images, you can see the cable routing of the 3D printed bike. Since it’s going to be printed, I can design internal tubes to guide the cables, and that’s exactly what this is. The cables run at a fixed distance from the wall to ensure they’re not floating inside the frame and needing extra support.

With SolidWorks, it’s really easy to create this kind of shape, especially because of the advanced tools compared to Fusion, which I was using before.

I’ve also been experimenting with the surface modeling tools, and wow, they don’t have the bugs I was running into before.

Super fun week at Les Gets with @intensefactoryracing

A few weeks ago, @joe_breeden17 gave me the opportunity to join the Intense team at Les Gets and help out wherever I could. It was a yes from the very start.

It’s been such a cool experience—spending the whole week working with bikes, discovering new parts and tech, and really getting a look at everything from the inside. Doing the trackwalk with the riders was another highlight, seeing how they analyze every section of the track and share lines—it really showed me the level of detail behind racing at this level.

The weekend was even better, with the team showing great speed and securing strong top 10 results. I also had the chance to sort out a replacement shox for my bike thanks to @cordijortes and @ridefoxbike, enjoy the finals with the crowd, and get a closer look at all the details of belts and gearboxes. To finish it all off, we had the best night together at bowling and the Fox party.

Kinematics of the 3D Printed Bike using @syn.bike

As you can see, the suspension system is very similar to the previous one, since both are 4-bar mid-high pivot designs, with the shock placed vertically.

I chose a progression of about 19.2%, which from my tests works perfectly for an air shock. This value can be adjusted by modifying the shock mounts, allowing a range from around 15% up to 30% progression.

On the anti-squat side, I implemented the @itracksuspension patent, which helps isolate anti-squat behavior from other variables.

The anti-rise remains quite stable, staying consistently just above 100% throughout.

World’s first one-piece 3D-printed metal non-eMTB

This is the optimization and simulation work for the next bike. And if you haven't guessed it yet—yes, it's going to be the world’s first one-piece 3D-printed metal non-eMTB. This project is only possible thanks to the support from Farsoon Technologies, @apworks.3d, and @ntopology.

This manufacturing method comes with a lot of advantages:

You only use the material where it's actually needed, making it highly efficient.

It enables geometries that would be completely impossible with traditional manufacturing.

And since no molds are required, it's super easy to iterate and improve the design.

I carried out all the optimizations in @ntopology, and with the help of @bradleyrothenberg, we developed a powerful workflow to drive this process. We created a variable-thickness shell controlled by a ramp based on von Mises stress, resulting in a structure that is both lightweight and strong, with material only where it matters.

All simulations were done with a safety factor of 2.5. Originally, I was aiming for 1.5, but after a conversation with Pascal from @gamuxbikes, I decided to increase it to better account for real-world loads.

Also, shout-out to @efbe_test for providing me with their specific ISO test guidelines for accurate bike simulations.

New wheels from @newmencomponents!! 

I’m riding the Beskar Enduro 30 in this stunning silver finish, 29” up front, 27.5” in the rear. Finally giving the mullet setup a go!
