🌍 Introducing CRI Interconnected: A Systems View on Sustainability and Management

I’m pleased to share the broadened scope of CRI Interconnected, the newsletter of the Center for Research Initiatives (CRI), exploring the connections between sustainability, management, systems thinking, and organizational transformation.

Today’s sustainability challenges—from climate change and inequality to responsible resource management and institutional effectiveness—cannot be addressed in isolation. They require us to understand how organizations, economies, institutions, and societies interact as interconnected systems.

CRI Interconnected brings sustainability and management together through a systems perspective.

🌱 What will the broadened scope explore?

🔹 Sustainability and Systems Thinking — Understanding the interconnections among the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), identifying systemic barriers, and exploring leverage points for meaningful change.

🔹 Sustainable Management and Leadership — Examining how organizational culture, leadership, decision-making, and management practices can advance sustainability.

🔹 Economic Transformation and Human Flourishing — Exploring poverty, inequality, inclusive development, resource allocation, and pathways toward more equitable and sustainable societies.

🔹 Organizational Learning and Transformation — Investigating how mindsets, skills, knowledge, and human capabilities contribute to organizational effectiveness and sustainable outcomes.

🔹 AI, Responsible Innovation, and Governance — Examining how AI literacy, workforce capabilities, and responsible technology adoption can support sustainable management and organizational transformation.

🔹 Partnerships and Institutional Change — Exploring how collaboration, institutional capacity, and interconnected approaches can accelerate progress toward the SDGs, particularly SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

🔗 A Systems Thinking Perspective

My research on the Attitude-First Learning (AFL) Model and its application through a Systems Thinking lens informs this broader exploration. It highlights the importance of connecting individual attitudes and capabilities. taken in Uttara, Dhaka, Bangladesh by @neazmujeri

Today, I had the opportunity to attend the Critical Thinking Bootcamp: Strengthening AI Literacy hosted by Sage.

The session reinforced that, in the age of generative AI, AI literacy is about far more than learning how to use AI tools. It requires developing critical thinking, asking better questions, evaluating AI-generated information, recognizing bias, and making informed and ethical decisions.

The discussions also resonated with my ongoing research on the Attitude-Driven AI Literacy (ADAIL) Model and the Attitude-First Learning (AFL) Model, which emphasize that cultivating the right attitudes is fundamental to developing meaningful AI literacy and lifelong learning capabilities. Technical knowledge and skills become far more effective when they are grounded in curiosity, critical reflection, ethical responsibility, and a commitment to continuous learning.

Thank you to Sage and the presenters for delivering an insightful and thought-provoking session. I look forward to applying these insights in my research and continuing the conversation on preparing learners and professionals for the AI era.

✅ "Stay Curious. Keep Learning. Create Opportunities."

Opportunities rarely arrive with a detailed roadmap. More often, they come to those who are ready to learn, adapt, and contribute.

Throughout my journey in sustainability, AI literacy, and higher education research, I've found that every new experience—whether attending webinars, collaborating on research, volunteering, or engaging with professionals on LinkedIn—has expanded my perspective and opened unexpected doors.

Preparation is important, but so is curiosity. Every conversation, every article, and every meaningful interaction can become the starting point of a new opportunity.

Continue investing in your knowledge, share what you learn, and support others in their growth. The connections you build today may become tomorrow's collaborations.

What is one opportunity that came your way simply because you stayed curious and kept learning?
