Behold! My hella smol fly rig main board 🔍🥺 Jonathan here to let ya know the Nebulaen Guitar FX Rundown series will return very soon!! I really appreciate all the positive feedback I've received over dm and in person about this series and am excited to get back on it 🤘 hope this holds you over for rn 🙏🙏

When i went in to create this fly rig i wanted my main board to be standalone, as in i could grab this and a guitar and hop on stage. We put this to the test last weekend with our show at the battle of bands, with the caveat i still had to bring a 2nd guitar for our C# standard song. This was the first time in the history of Nebulaen that i played through only one amp and without my modulation effects board!!

My philosophy with effects is they are there to embellish and expand the atmosphere of the song, not replace the guitar. A good song to me can be stripped down to an acoustic guitar and still be just as strong. I feel like we achieved this at the show and the raw power of the band really shone. 🤘

For the gear nerds and pedal junkies out there here are some more deets. 🤓 Everyone else is free to leave now 😆🍻

📸 @marcdphotos SWIPE ➡️➡️➡️➡️ FOR 🎛️🎛️ DEETS

I got tired of dragging my beast of an amp Marshall DLS 100 to shows and was looking for a lighter less fragile option (there's a shit load of glass in all those tubes!). So i started researching these new tiny pedal amps that started coming out and settled on Blackstar Dept 10 Amped 1. I liked that it has power tube emulation (which i set to EL34 to mimic my DSL 100) and gives a healthy amount of headroom with 100 watts of solid state power, plenty to gig with.

The missing piece was a tube preamp. Thankfully one of my favorite effects pedal builders Earthquaker Devices partnered with Dr. Z and totally overachieved this with their new ZEQD tube preamp!! I love this pedal so much, like now that i have it, I don't know how i was playing without it 😆

So i basically have a travel ready road tough tube amp on the top of my board. 🤘 I rounded this out with some essentials (tuner, tremelo, reverb and delay)

Woah what a night!! Super congrats to our dear friends (and our bassist @mario.vinegarhillmusic 😆🤘) in @thedancingskeletons for placing and moving on to the @atomicrockfest_ ! They've worked very hard to get here and it's been genuinely inspiring watching them grow 🙌🌱

Also congrats to @thehazards.la and @echospinemusic for taking the top 2 spots. The Hazards raw energy was infectious and rounded out with stellar song writing. Echo Spine brought the stadium show to the small stage and are clearly ready for their next step by taking the main stage slot at the fest in Long Beach! 🤘

Gotta give a shout out to @vanouhi for giving one of the bravest and boldest performances we've seen at one of these battles. 🫶 They came up from San Diego and their rhythm section couldn't make it so they pushed on as a duo just guitar/vox and proved how powerful songs can be when stripped back from all the theatrics and embellishments.

Finally thanks so much to @vanessatorres_rym at @rym_network magazine for organizing this whole thing, @cideshow18205 for hosting the event and our mgmt @jenna_frequency at @socalindiemusicians for leading us here!!!

Tix are on sale now so go get them and support all these incredible musicians!!

SRY FOR THE DELAY!! 🤪🤣 Pun intended obviously but here we continue with day 9 of 52 of the Nebulaen Guitar FX Rundown with my @carolinegco Kilobyte Lo-Fi Delay 👾🛸🎛️

I became friends with Philippe when he first launched Caroline Guitar Company with his famous Wave Cannon, so i am beyond proud to finally get to highlight one of his pedals in this series. There will be many to follow rest assured 🤘

The Kilobyte has become more than just any effects pedal on my board but a song writing tool and instrument all to its own. So much so that I don't think i could play our song "Fractured" without it and THAT i can't really say about any of the other pedals on my board. So it has become very essential. Only thing i might do down the road is upgrade to the Kilobyte 2000 and STILL then i think I'll have to find room on my live board for this one!

This series focuses on the multitude of guitar effect pedals 🎛️🎚️our guitarist Jonathan uses to create our soundscapes. His recent inventory revealed there are 52 ‼️active sound altering, some mind altering 🛸🫠 effects which he will take you through daily 🗓️ one by one! In this series we hope to enlighten, entertain and elevate your understanding of these super fun and expressive tools used by many modern musicians! 🤘

Also please take a second if you haven't already and drop a vote for us through the link in our bio so we can make it into the Battle of the Bands in August. We truly appreciate the support!!

Got some super exciting news coming soon but in the meantime did you know we invited our dear friend @franc0zizza to perform lead guitar on our song "Morrigan" on our latest album Epistolary?!?

We posted a short snippet to our YouTube today with video from Jonathan's birthday show last year. It synced descent enough with the studio track cause Franco played that shit note for note! Which is quite a feat considering we just did take after take in the studio and then frankensteined together what we wanted the whole solo to be 🤘

He's working on some dope musical things too so be sure to check him out 🔥🔥🔥

Gotta give a shout out to our friend @marcdphotos
taking the dopest shots of us here at the front of the stage!!

Also Jonathan will be back to posting daily Guitar FX Rundowns very soon!!
