Portraits from Japan 🇯🇵 for #SonyAlphaPortraitContest2026

Japan is often photographed through motion, crowds, neon, and spectacle — but I was drawn to slow down and capture the mood of quiet shrines, the soft light filtering through bamboo forest, the omnipresent night glow of the streets through the portraiture. Simple moments where nothing is trying to impress you.

The goal wasn’t perfection, but honesty. A portrait that feels observed rather than constructed.

Shot on somewhat unconventional Sony setup: A7R II paired with the wide 28mm f2 lens. I keep coming back to this combination because of its rendering and how well it works for dark, lit only by ambient light scenes, especially at night.

Yesterday we organized a “March for Life” with around 500 participants to remind German government and @bundeskanzler @olafscholz that every moment of indecision costs lives of people in Ukraine…

Thanks to everyone who joined us. Slava Ukraini!

If you’re a foreigner here are a few things you can do to support Ukraine:

1) Donate to Army via charity
here: https://savelife.in.ua/en/donate/
or on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/savelife_in_ua
(links in bio)

2) Join or organize a demonstration in your city to make your government provide support to Ukraine and make understand that Putin will only stop where he will be stopped

Happy new year, everyone!
May it be the best one yet (or at least better than 2021 😅)

//first time celebrating outside of the home country since 2016-2017. This time instead of concert, grandios fireworks and warm sauna in Helsinki it’s with Cypriot lukewarm sea, roaring thunderstorm in distance, fireworks lit beach and absolute feeling of freedom. A very nice feeling to have, let’s now hope it stays with us throughout 2022 taken in Coral Bay Cyprus by @nedis4
