Hello Booklovers 💜

I’m Corissa, the owner of Need2Read, and it’s time I was brave and officially introduced myself! Lots of you already know me now, but I’m aware that there are just as many beautiful customers who don’t, and given how much I love chatting with you all, it seemed only fair I tell you a little about me.

Born and raised in Baw Baw, I have degrees in Literature, Psychology, and Education, and cannot remember a time when I haven’t been throughly smitten with books. The opportunity to take on Need2Read arose and my beautiful husband encouraged me to try and make my lifelong dream of owning a bookstore come true. Despite having been a secondary teacher for 17 years and deeply loving the career to which I had devoted so much of my life, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. In September 2024 I took over ownership of the bookstore. Now, here we are!

For the first thirteen months I kept teaching while also learning how to run a small business (thank goodness for my incredible staff and my village around me), and what an adventure that was. Then, after seeing through one final group of Year 12 students, I stepped back from teaching to be in the shop full time, and it has honestly been more than I ever could have dreamed it would be.

I absolutely love it.

I love spending my days surrounded by books, talking with people about what they love to read and the stories that light them up or have touched their souls. I love introducing people to things they’ve never read before, learning about books customers have loved, and I am so delighted every time someone comes back to tell me what they thought of a recommendation I gave them. I love when former students pop in to visit me and talk about chasing their dreams too. More than anything else, I adore helping people find their next favourite read!

To all the fabulous customers who have made me feel so welcome taking on the store and who have embraced all my ideas as I introduce each one, thank you so much for loving our bookstore as much as I do. I hope you’re ready for more adventures together because I have so many more ideas to come!

Forever happy to chat all things books and more with you,
Cor 💜 by @need2readbookstore

✨ Trial a Book Club ✨

Have you been wanting to try a bookclub but you’re not sure if it’s for you? If so, keep on reading!

We have had a huge influx of customers coming by asking to join book club or try one out, so for October we are offering a trial book club for those who might want to see if being in a book club is for them. The book we’ve chosen is Billie King by debut Australian author @shannon.kelly.white

The book club will run in store on Wednesday 28th October at 6pm. $50 will get you the book, access to the book club discussion (which usually lasts about an hour) and also 10% off any purchases made on the night. We also provide some snacks and some kind of mocktail.

To join, come into the store to sign up, make your payment and collect your book, or you can call us and pay over the phone to secure your place and then come in at a time that suits you to pick up your book. You’ll have a little over a month to read it before we meet if you sign up this week!

Who’s in??
