Cindy did this in #retreatneedlepoint class at @barbarasneedlepoint ..a different stitch jn each petal with lots of different threads, a wonderful example to use when stitching other pieces and looking for a stitch.

#needlepointtip: Not all needles can be used with all threads. A needle (usually size 24) for 3 plies silk cannot be used with a strand of Very Velvet or when turkey tufting using multiple strands, here 6 strands Petite Silk Lame, it needs a larger eyed needle. Using a needle that is too small will shred the thread at the eye of the needle. A more experienced ndlptr learns this after many years of stitching. Personally, I think it is the stitcher’s choice on what size needle to use. I like using a size 20 or 22 needle on most all my canvases for stitching. Needlepoint should be fun not tedious or rule bound, like so many think. Ndlpt like you want, trying different sizes of needles with different threads to discover what you like. @needlepointnightz member Courtney almost finished with her baby Alice’s #needlepointchristmasstocking. We had a #privateneedlepointclass yesterday, adding flowers, heart and using earrings her grandmother gave her for the angle shoes, making the stocking even more special.
