Last week under the watchful gaze of Dwight Howard and Pedro Martinez, I had the honor of accepting the Emmy for Best Camera Work: Short Form on behalf of Thom McCallum and Curran Ferrey and myself. Given the circumstances, it would rank as a 10 out of 10 under ’Out of Body Experiences’.

Beyond the photography, at the heart of the project was the incredible storytelling, direction, editing and producing of Pete Radovich, Anthony Cortese, Laurie Zelnick, Courtney Schultz. In my experience, sports television is by far the most collaborative corner of the business, and I’m very lucky to work alongside some of the most talented people in the industry. by @needs_help

I shot this photo series of groups of roommates 10 years ago, back when I was a twenty-something carving out space for myself in Brooklyn. Living with roommates was something I knew intimately, but it also felt universal, especially as our generation navigated the reality of sky-high rent and shared everything.

Thank you to everyone featured who sat, stood and lay for photos, from @charleneincarnate to the Little Brothers of St. Francis in Boston. It was a beautifully motley crew, all very different, though unified in the common experience of sharing intimate space with other human beings.

I’ve been thinking about personal projects lately and digging through the archives of things I shot that I feel deserve a 2nd look. I’m lucky enough to make my living making other people’s passions my own, however I often miss making things purely for the love of the game. It’s an urge that might be counterproductive to me never actually wanting roommates again, however one I want to try and stay close to. taken in Brooklyn, New York by @needs_help

Yes we directed and DP’d this Tim Horton’s spot now playing across Canada for the playoffs and into next year, but what I’m most proud of is my muse, my confidant, and my line producer, @mcpomilla ’s performance as Fan #1. A role she was both born to play but also one she was wrangled into with about 10 minutes notice.

This was terrifically fun - I love our Canadian cast, crew and any chance to play in the NHL sandbox is the best.

In an effort to disconnect from devices and reconnect with my hands, I started learning to make furniture, fully taking advantage of the fact that my dad has 60 years of knowledge to impart and a fully equipped wood shop for me to make a mess of on my trips to Western Mass.

I’m so proud of the most recent chair we made together, and daunted by the fact I now need to make another to fill the empty slot at my table. However the greatest thing I came away with, a quote that I think applies to everything I do creatively, whether its with wood or filmmaking is this:

Joshua Jackson and Gritty came through for a new spot for AstraZeneca, kindly reminding men of a certain age to get checked for cancer. Since we mostly work with athletes, working with 2 performers who are so dialed in with their skill set made our job a dream. I think we should consider enrolling professional athletes in the Meisner Technique the way actors go to bootcamp before they do a war movie. Just an idea!
