There is something strangely limiting about the way femininity is spoken about today.

We take qualities that have always existed within the feminine and separate them into little categories. Soft. Dark. Divine. Feminine. As though each quality belongs to a different kind of woman, and as though femininity needs to be defined, labelled and performed before it can be understood.

But a woman is already whole. 🌌

She carries within herself the capacity to create life, to nurture it, to transform it, to hold it. There is something profound in that completeness that cannot be reduced to an aesthetic, an archetype or a list of traits.

And yet, we keep being taught to divide ourselves. To decide whether we are soft enough, powerful enough, feminine enough, desirable enough, spiritual enough. We take one small aspect of ourselves and turn it into an identity, forgetting everything else that exists within us.

The feminine does not need to be fragmented into parts in order to be understood.

She can be tender and fierce. Sensual and austere. Nurturing and independent. Still and dynamic. She can contain contradictions without having to choose which one makes her more worthy of being called feminine.

As women, perhaps we need to remember that our wholeness does not depend on someone else defining it for us.

We do not need a man, a culture, an ideology, an aesthetic or an archetype to come and tell us what we are.

We are already complete.

And perhaps the deepest expression of the feminine is not becoming one particular kind of woman, but remembering everything that we already are.
