This legislative season, something bigger than all of us moved.

Three laws. Countless hours. So many voices that refused to stay quiet.

I had the privilege of being part of this team Shield and Refuge Initiative, initiated by my dear friend Mo—but for me, this was never just policy or process.

Isaiah’s story is personal to me. I’ve seen the reality behind it. I’ve cried many tears for my foster son. I’ve felt the weight of it. And I’ve carried the “this has to change” deep in my heart long before any bill was written.

There were moments that felt impossible.
Moments that felt heavy.
Moments where giving up would have been easier. (All of us were in that spot at one time or another) but as a team we carried each other through it.

When God is behind you, something shifts.

Doors open.
Strength shows up.
And ordinary people become part of something that truly changes the world.

This is what happens when faith meets action.

Grateful I didn’t just witness it—but got to stand in it, fight for it, and be part of something that now protects others in a way Isaiah deserved. by @negbert001

We got the opportunity to spend a week in Kauai without the kids. It was full of beautiful hikes, snorkeling, relaxing and gratitude for the beauty (God is the ultimate artist). I’m grateful for my first born for coming home to care for her siblings so we could have this experience. I will say that I constantly thought of the kids and wished they were there to experience it as well. I guess that just means we have to go back soon! taken in Kaua'i, Hawaii by @negbert001
