NEILA MOON (@neilamoon33) via KICKDRUM: „Music definitely found me and honestly, it saved me. It became my safe space and pretty much the only constant in my life. Growing up, music was always present, thanks to my parents who played it everywhere: at home, during car rides to school, all the time. Plus, being half Congolese music basically runs through my veins.“

🔎 Neila Moon is an artist who exists to guide and enlighten those around her, opening portals to different worlds through her music and creativity. With roots in the Netherlands, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Guadeloupe, her artistic journey encompasses singing, songwriting, music production, and photography. Our talk is also about this: Be honest, what do you think is completely overrated?

„I think it’s a bit overrated when people feel superior just because they adopt a minimalist or low-maintenance style; whether that’s in clothing, makeup, or lifestyle. There’s a certain pride in being low-key or choosing to focus on simplicity, which is great in many ways, but it can sometimes come off as judgmental toward those who might care about those things for different reasons. What might be a personal preference or comfort zone for one person can be a form of creativity or confidence for another. I believe true wisdom lies in understanding and respecting those differences.“ 🗣️

Finally, the artist announces: „There are definitely some exciting things in the works, but I don’t want to give too much away just yet. In the meantime, check out my latest single, ‚Deux Chemins,‘ streaming on all platforms.“
