3/3 Ultimately our practice is about how people experience things, whether it is a neighbourhood, a space, an exhibition or, in this case, a shared dinner. In each case, we try to be explicit with simple narratives to act as touchpoints from which deeper discussion or reflections of a situation can be shared among participants or communities. Because it is far more fun (and infinitely more delicious) than a powerpoint, we hope food can factor more prominently in our work from now on. taken in Shanghai City by @neill.mg

2/3 The dinner for Domestic Blasé pushed Neill (me🤦) to refine his cooking and conform it within the narrative theme of a sort of post-2020 domesticity. The process involved a lot of trial and error with techniques uncommon within home kitchens, but with the goal that ultimately the food still tastes homely and comforting. Special mention must be given to chef Jeremy Fox’s amazing cookbook “On Vegetables” which gave us the “Ikebana” dish of peas and white chocolate as well as inspired the garden “dirt” (which we modified as a savoury version of his dirt.) taken in Shanghai City by @neill.mg

1/3 Domestic Blasé: An experiential dining event presented by @ffixxed_studios & @sans_practice w the invaluable help of @raquelsanchezmontes 🫀

We have always enjoyed cooking and putting on dinners for friends, and Domestic Blasé was a welcome development of that. Our practice is grounded in a lot of research and planning for projects that can span years or more. In cooking and events (we also occasionally curate and participate in exhibitions) we like to stretch our capabilities and learn quickly within the compressed timeframes, as a change from our “day jobs”. taken in Shanghai City by @neill.mg
