I had the best time running the Ouachita Trail 50k last weekend. Firstly I need to thank the volunteers. They are saints. They were there bright & early and everyone I talked to was nothing but helpful and positive. They made this a great first trail Ultramarathon. Will be doing it again next year. I also need to thank my mother @contactlarajones for agreeing to stay in a hotel the night before and giving me a ride to the start of the race at 5am and being there when I finished. My truck's head gasket blew on Easter so if it wasn't for her I would've had to cancel. And shout-out to @the.bake.studio.desserts for last minute making me a Banana nut cake, it was exactly what I needed after running 31 miles.
As with everything in life, trail running is better with friends. Not only was I able to talk @treetrashh into signing up but I was also able to get Tatum - another friend who I met through @blueroserunningco 's Wednesday night runs- to run it too. Neither took much convincing, it was more like "Hey I signed up for a 50k out at Pinnacle." And they were on it. We trained for it, running around the trails Conway has to offer and covering the 50k course through several trips to Little Rock. Tatum went on to finish first place women's, her first time winning an Ultramarathon (it was only her second trail 50k), and 6th overall out of 96. From the very beginning she took off and I didn't see her again until she had already hit the turnaround and was on her way back, in 2nd place at that time and miles ahead of where I was. When I got to the half way point and didn't see Tanner I realized he made his mind up to keep going and would be doing the 50 miler. What might be most impressive about him finishing the 50 miler is when I called him he thought he was 40 miles in with only 10 to go. I was tracking him and he still had another 15+ to go. Deflating. But he pushed on and finished before the cutoff. Very proud of all of us. by @neitzeltrevor

Chase and I took part in the Chase and Paws race today. It was the best. He got along with all the other dogs (I knew he would) and ran so fast. He ran a 6:24 mile and that's with stopping to check out a bush! He's the 5th fastest leashed dog in all of Conway and the surrounding area. Very proud of this good boy. by @neitzeltrevor

I'm so proud of myself I achieved a goal I've had since reading @davidgoggins book Can't Hurt Me in October 2023. I ran an ultramarathon. It all started with doing Sober October thanks largely to @joeroganexperience . Back then I was 40-50lbs overweight and I couldn't run half a mile. A lot can change if you change a lot.

2025 Conway City of Colleges half marathon.
Fun atmosphere, perfect weather. Proud of everyone who completed the half. 13 miles is no easy feat; it's a long ways. But we did it. by @neitzeltrevor

Very proud of both Tanner and myself for the performance we had today at the Creep 'N Crawl half marathon in Little Rock. We both exceeded our goals and then went on to hike Pinnacle mountain. by @neitzeltrevor

This was fun. In the beginning I was being a little hard on myself for struggling and walking so much but then I remember it's 100° and also I can walk; that's fine. The point is to enjoy it so I stopped with that thinking and enjoyed the time on my feet.
Thankful I am able to. by @neitzeltrevor
