My Goodness!
I’m honestly thrilled that my computer managed to handle all of this! 😄

Ableton with nearly 50 tracks, microphone input, an iPhone camera connected directly via Wi-Fi, the laptop’s built-in camera, streaming, AND recording—all at the same time! 🤯

This means the setup is ready for us to dive into building such truly nerdy, electronic music stuff together... 🎛️😁 by @nelson.kay.official

😁Were you able to grasp this change in rhythm right away?
Or how long did it take before you „switched over“ in your head?
👉🏼Leave me your thoughts on that.

👀Unexpected things you don’t really see coming – not even subconsciously – 😻I absolutely love that.

In the form you hear it here, this basically almost never happens in electronic music – and certainly not as a transition in a DJ set or a live performance.

Honestly, it’s pretty bizarre and especially disruptive, completely breaking apart an otherwise established structure.

But yes, that’s what art is about, isn’t it?
💫The artist practices their craft, goes through a creative process, and creates something for themselves and for those experiencing the art
–> something no highly calculated, stochastic system could ever generate … you know what I mean.

Another new thing for me – this last scene of my little “Restart – Live – Performance” is actually an idea I never produced before, which I originally created as background music for one of my pinned posts.

Now that I’ve included it as a live scene, it fulfills an idea I’ve been pursuing for a long time:
Live First! … but we can talk more about that in detail in a future post. 😉

SO PROUD OF MY AMAZING COMMUNITY! ❤️🌍
WE MADE IT INTO A LOCAL NEWSPAPER! 📰

TITLE: When Music Brings the World Together

From America to Europe, all the way to Iran and Indonesia: music transcends borders and distances thanks to “Autopsy of Love | Singing with My Community”, the new project by Venice-based singer-songwriter Alessandra Milieri, who brought together her Instagram community to create a collaborative music video.

Artists, musicians, performers, and music lovers from different parts of the world responded to the singer’s invitation, contributing their own interpretations to a project that celebrates unity, authenticity, and freedom of expression.

The video is set to “Autopsy of Love” a single released on September 18, 2026, whose official music video was filmed between the province of Treviso, Italy, and London.

At a time when the world is marked by wars, tensions, and divisions, this initiative aims to reveal another side of humanity: people from profoundly different cultures and backgrounds choosing to come together to create something meaningful.

This message is particularly significant for an independent artist like Alessandra, who continues to build her musical journey with the support of an international community.

The project also demonstrates how social media can become a powerful tool for genuine collaboration, going beyond numbers, views, and engagement.

The video is available on the artist’s official YouTube channel and carries a simple yet powerful message: music can still bring people together, even when the world seems to be falling apart. by @nelson.kay.official

It’s worth pushing things to the very limit.
It’s always about the journey through the live act.
And there also has to be an absolute peak.

😄And before the audience forgets to breathe, you suddenly release the tension.
👉🏼This can also be nicely combined with a drop in the bass range.

I’m still tweaking the frequency spectrum of the individual scenes a bit.
This is exactly where my conscious decision comes into play:
‼️not to use any third-party plugins or complex mastering EQs,
🎛️so that everything remains efficient and runs smoothly during playback.

🎶 „Brainwaves“ is out now🎶
everywhere you love to listen to music starting today.

💫The idea for the track really came directly from this situation:
That sudden flash of inspiration that keeps you from falling asleep when it hits you and just won’t let go.
Originally, it was about the claim in the community that everyone somehow has their own “Disney Voice” 😄
So from that point on, the question was: “How do I create a unique vocoder voice that goes in that direction and wrap it in a fitting Nelson.Kay Cinematic EDM style?”

And that was exactly the kind of haunting thoughts in my head that kept me from sleeping.
On top of that, I really waited a long time this time for the release – which didn’t make things any easier 😂

👉🏼 Listen to Brainwaves wherever you want.
🔗 One Link is in my Bio.

🙏 Thank you all so much for beeing here 💙

🎛️A certain degree of automation is the key to a varied live act.

🔊 It allows you to play outside the actual timing without loosing it, or to create snapback automation to shape drops.

Yes, dear friends,

At Kay’s house, it’s slowly becoming time to get back to working on live performances. 🎛️🎚️

Because there’s quite a lot to do. 🏗️

🔊 But I’m also slowly but surely getting the urge to get out there again. 🔥

🤔And I’m starting to get into the Halloween spirit, I’m noticing.😄

Somehow, there is simply nothing better than the moment when everything comes together—the fusion of contrasting worlds into a unique emulsion.

☯️The fusion of orchestral elements and synthetic sounds.

🎶🔊The epic vastness and the technoid foundation.

✨ Always an incredible journey.

Plug-ins that make a producer’s life easier are great and often very helpful. … But Not Always ❌

🔊 In this short sample, I included four pull-in effects.
This is the kind of creative freedom I have, which I don’t get when using plugins that automatically apply pre-made effects to certain syllables for me.

⚙️Another thing that often isn’t mentioned about plugins—especially those that perform complex calculations—is that they can introduce significant latency into the project.
This makes it practically impossible to use something like your MIDI keyboard properly.

🚨On top of that, I’m always very cautious with third-party software, simply because of my live performance background. I need absolute reliability from my DAW, and you can avoid crashes if there’s no external interference with it.

What about you?
Are you more on the side of plugin users, or do you lean toward being more of an experimental tinkerer?
