"Housing is a human right. There can be no fairness or justice in a society in which some live in homelessness, or in the shadow of that risk, while others cannot even imagine it."

"Life is a hard battle anyway. If we laugh and sing a little as
we fight the good fight of freedom, it makes it all go easier."
~Sojouner Truth

Good Morning Good People,

I am delighted and grateful to have been invited to join this briliant & beautiful bunch of "singing for justice & joy" folks, for this collaborative event!

We will gather in the church I grew up in, that dad started in 1966 during the Civil Rights Movement. Edgehill United Methodist Church. We are deeply grateful to Pastor Eric Mayle for his loving support and service.

Dad, Rev. Bill Barnes, finally after 18 years of hard love labor, got the Affordable Housing Trust Fund passed through the mayor's office, Mayor Karl Dean, in 2013.

Since then, the Barnes Fund has helped finance over 1.5 billioin dollars in Affordable Housing in Nashville. This is win for sure! Miraculous even. And we need more! Nashville is still in a housing deficit of dignified affordable housing. This event will help!

This is a FREE event, that includes performances by the homeless choir, Voices of Resilience, Community Kirtan; mixing mantras & Gospels, offerings by AfrokokoRoot, an Open Mic for anyone who wants to offer a song or spoken word, a silent auction, & yummy food for all!

I am grateful to welcome some amazing musicians & singers to join me: Xander Roberts, Lydia, Sarah Jane Nelson, and my buddy from Riverbend, the brilliant Antonius Harris. @antonius.harris @sarahjanenelson @alexanderstoppmusic @drumpunkd

See you Saturday, June 13th, at Edgehill UMC, 2-5pm! 1502 Edgehill Ave. Nashville 37212

May mercy & grace bless your every breath,
Amy

"Since its inception in 2013, the Barnes Housing Trust Fund has invested more than $191 million to create and preserve over 6,000 affordable homes in Nashville. These city investments have successfully leveraged over $1.5 billion in additional public and private funds." taken in Edgehill United Methodist Church by @nelsonmandala812

"You are now listening to 103.5 Dawn FM
You've been in the dark for way too long
It's time to walk into the light
And accept your fate with open arms
Scared? Don't worry
We'll be there to hold your hand and guide you through this painless transition
But what's the rush?
Just relax and enjoy another hour of commercial
(Free yourself) music on 103.5 Dawn FM
Stay tuned" by @nelsonmandala812
