I'm in a local owners' group that meets once a month for dinner. Greatest bunch of people I've ever met, a big part of getting back to normal-ish after the accident and clinic-stay. Always looking forward to these meets :)

21st of September was my first "second birthday", the anniversary of my accident. Spent the day taking a drive down to the Zollenspieker ferry. Strained my limit a bit, longest I've driven since the accident. I like those small river ferries, excited to eventually be on one again.

Nera had a habit of trying to overheat at any traffic light, and then the radiator cracked. Days of flushing the system, with and without a cleaner, turned the smelly coffee-colored sludge into water, a new radiator, new foam seals and some new hoses seem to have solved the issue.
The rest of the hoses and the water pump are on the to-do-list 🫡

Decided to postpone working on the car's issues for a day because I needed to go for a little drive.
The issues kindly reminded me of their presence.
The drive did improve my mood though :)

Evening drive ❌
Nighttime work ✅
Working on wiring is already no fun, 30 years of past owners' mods don't help. REALLY wasn't in the mood for that, REALLY could've used the evening drive to pick up my mood. Oh well...

The latch on Nera's center console cubby was broken, but I had a broken lid with a working latch sitting around. Big improvement with just four screws!

The inspection isn't due for another year, but the roll bar needed to be approved so there's no hassle when something happens. Thanks @tuevnordgroup for doing the approval :)

First drive!
10 months and 6 days since my accident, and I'm back in an MX5! First drive was...completely uneventful :)
I'd been legitimately nervous about this.

Running out of energy really fast even when doing minor tasks is frustrating as hell. You keep wanting to push on, keep going, strain the limits a little more. "Suddenly" needing a lot more rest and breaks is frustrating to get used to, it makes you feel lazy.
Replacing the stud and putting wheels on the car would've been a quick job not long ago, now it was most of what I got done that day.

Still loads to do (including a proper wash) and behind schedule, but this feels like a big step on the "I wanna drive!!!"-to do list.
(The plate frame will be replaced soon)
