These two enjoying the taste of freedom under the sunset 🥹 It's been a while since I drew a proper piece of Maeth and Astarion together, and damn I've missed them aughh, I also had fun trying some stuffs color wise and I'm honestly pretty happy with how it turned out ✌🏻😭
Anyway these pookies make my heart ache but I adore them with my entire being
Also Maeth wearing white because I CAN, they kind of swap their usual colors bwahha
(Now I shall go back and focus on finishing my short comic....)

Maeth's half-slayer form 🩸
I did saw a few people who did design in between stage transformation for their durge's slayer form, which I thought was a really cool idea, sooo naturally I ended up joining in, designing my own. It was a really fun exercice to work around my already existing design for Maeth's full slayer form (slide 5), I initial wasn't sure if I'd manage to pull it of, because I felt like his slayer form looked too much like a beast to be adaptated as a humanoid form. Yet, here I am and I'm really happy with his final design and with how I've managed to keep the important elements of his slayer's design (horns, skull like face, visible spine bones, flesh veils).

I did include an approximate height chart, as I thought it could be interesting the have the size comparison of each of his forms 👀 calculating the height difference using his arou'd 45cm horn length as my scale, was an experience lmaooo

Anyway, I also did add a few lore excerpt from my Maeth's Lore Summary doc (full doc available in my highlight), with the few events and thoughts process which led to Maeth acquiring his Slayer form 😫 I'm sorry if it's small and a bit of a pain to read, I didn't want to have a billion slides lmao and the full written doc is out there with a better format so 😭

Some experimental painting-style portraits I got the chance to work on during september, they've been both challenging and fun to do 👀✨

Thank you for trusting me with this 🖤

Working with greyscale and in a more painterly style has been pushing me out of my comfort zone, out of my usual process, of what I've been used to do for years, but it feels very refreshing to try something new. And i feel like greyscaling has truly been helping me with my understanding of shadows and light and having more contrast in my artworks overall, as it is way easier to see my values in grey tones, than it is with colors, at least for me :>

Unholy Prodigy 🩸
I saw this one picture (last slide) on Pinterest and I knew I had to redraw it as Maeth, it was way too fitting, and while working on this I couldn't help but keep on thinking about this quote I wrote from Bhaal;

''Sow fear within their heart, reap their lives. Spill their blood on your path, and let these corpses show you the way back. Only then, you shall return to me, my Prodigy.''

I dunno I feel like it encapsulates it pretty well 😭

I added the lore snippet on the fourth slide which is part from the childhood lore doc I did share part of a while ago over here 🫶🏻 (In depth childhood lore which I am still currently working on, I have too much to tell about my silly durge augh)

I missed drawing more dark / old papyrus looking art bwahah (i draw too much unserious stuffs fr)

This artwork is kind of giving Victorian portrait ngl 🐦‍⬛
I was blessed with a ''draw what you want'' request, so I had full creative freedom on this piece. I decided to make a portrait of Maeth using a mirror frame I've seen online, as I thought it could be a really nice element to incorporate in an artwork. I also took this opportunity to practice greyscaling once again, and I'm really happy with the look of the piece, and I feel like my rendering looks so much better. Like, there's a stronger contrast between my values, which I felt like was something my artworks were lacking overall ✌🏻
As for the Raven, it is an animal that I do associate with Maeth a lot because of its symbolism. For the little story, I've named Maeth after a deity from my original world, Nes'Maeth who is the god related to death, knowledge and transformation (aside from the name's origin, these are aldo thematics which are very present in Maeth's story), which are themes that are often linked to/associated with Ravens.
As a more personal note, I still want to someday get a Maeth related tattoo with a Raven in it lmao

Maeth being a cat mom 🐈‍⬛
It's been so long since I last drew Malice who is an absolutely baby. She's the tressym, I've decided Maeth would have as a companion/familiar later on, post BG3 events. Malice would live alongside Maeth and Astarion, tho she'd keep a part of her freedom and independance, coming and going as she pleases, but their home is hers as well 🙂‍↕️ And they sure do love this little furball (just as she loves them).
I haven't really thought yet about how they'd meet but mhhh that's something to think about ✌🏻🤓

Here is some digital painting practices I did using greyscale, and coloring from greyscale, as It is something I'd like to get better at, and progressively integrate it into my current artstyle, which I do not wish to change completely but it goes more into the direction I'd like my art to go to 🥹
Also, through this I think I'm understanding a bit better how to color from greyscale without the colors looking absolutely dull lmao
For those who may be interested (this is my process it might not be not best, nor most efficient one but oh well)

Draw in greyscale (pick 3-4 grey/white tones you don't need more)

Add your base/flat colors on multiply layer atop of your greyscale one (not full opacity like 60 or 70% you can adjust it to your liking as you go)

Play around with color balance on your greyscale layer to adjust the colors of shadows, midtones, and highlights (making your greyscales having some color tones)

Duplicate your multiply layer set it in overlay (atop your multiply layer) adjust oppacity to your liking (i did like 70% multiply / 40% overlay on this piece) -> make the colors look more vibrants (you can also directly use overlay, it depends on what you want your colors to look like)

Use layers set on hard light to add on some shadows, warmer tones/color highlight (can also use overlay depending on what you're looking for) --> accentuate your base colors

Adding light/highlight with color dodge (you can also use ''add'' layer, depending on preferences)

You can then merge everything together to add on more details, adjust things yada yada ✌🏻

To be kinder 🌱
I will forever be weak for Spawn Astarion x Redemption Durge, because just the thought of two morally questionnable/evil people inspiring each of other to be better, kinder and grow (and who clearly heals through it) MAKES ME UNWELL 😭

@indimiart said they're like that one scene in Twilight where they're lying down within the forest's glade and I cannot unsee it now LMAOO 🙄 ✨ Astarion's skin could start glittering under the sun at any moment now ✨

This was inntially supposed to be a few second animation but I couldn't bring myself to do it (may be some day) so for now have it as an artwork 🥹

It's been a while that I've been seeing people doing this and wanting to join in sooooo here is my ingame screenshot of the character vs how i draw the character, and i can tell you, I'm always weirded out when I go back to bg3 and see Maeth's in game model like??? Who are you??? You're not MY SON??? LMAOO 😭

Still funny to see how much he changes from bg3 Cillian Murphy tiefing to my actual vision of Maeth, which I tried my best to reproduce into the Monster Hunter Wilds' CC (which has an amazing CC btw), which honestly is probably the best 3D represetation of his face/face structure so far bwahha 🙂‍↕️

Last slide is simply my fav (silliest) screenshot of Maeth LMAOOO when I was playing with @indimiart and he was the only one in the party suceptible to sleep spell, because everyone else was an elf/half elf LMAOOO 😭😭

Long time no see, for Gale and Aldred 😼🫶🏻✨ I was requested to draw them so I did bwahah and honestly did miss them, they're really sweet together smiuufff 😭
As a reminder Aldred is my BG3 Tav oc, he's a cleric of death, whose deity is Myrkurl, and whose faith was pretty much forced upon him throughout his entire life by his family/community, as time goes on he progressively leaves his former deity behind (there's more infos about him within my story highlight if interest) 🫶🏻 I've just realized that I last posted an atwork of Aldred here in may 2025 💀
I genuinely wish to be able to wipe out my memories of the game, so that I could enjoy playing bg3 again and continue his run, which has been waiting for MOOONNTHHS ✌🏻😭
Anyway, Legendary Listener x Master at Yapping
