We are so excited to announce our brand new artist development programme, Common Ground. We’ve been developing this for a while, and cannot wait to see what comes from the incredible melting pot of extraordinary folk and traditional music in this country. This project is about bringing together folk musicians based in England to share their traditions and create new repertoire. We are searching for six individual musicians to form three brand new duos. Applications are open NOW and close 30th November. Head to our website to find out more: thenestcollective.co.uk/commonground by @nestfolk
Here we go! 🤩 We are so excited to announce that the mighty @anda_union will return to London next year for their biggest UK show ever. We’ll be hosting them at the incredible Islington Assembly Hall. Very limited early-bird tickets are on sale now via our website. Formed in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, Anda Union is a dynamic ensemble of musicians who trained from a young age in traditional Mongolian music. Their name, Anda - meaning “blood brother” in Mongolian - reflects their deep bond and their shared mission: to preserve and revitalize the endangered cultural heritage of the steppe. by @nestfolk
We need your help! As you probably know, times are challenging for the arts in the UK right now. We are not-for-profit, independent organisation run by a dedicated part-time team. We love this community, and believe in the power of the Nest gatherings. We know the magic that can happen at our events and we want The Nest Collective to continue to grow. We also believe in paying artists, events staff, and our team properly. So, we need your help. We need your help to continue putting on amazing events, booking the best artists, and taking creative risks with our programming. With your support, we can ensure the continuity of our programme, increase the diversity of our offering, and expand our community outreach and ticket accessibility. So we are introducing... Friends of the Nest 🌿 We’re asking for support of £5 a month - if even a fraction of you are able to help it would go a long way to ensuring the longevity of the Nest. And by becoming a Friend of the Nest you’ll also get access to exclusive rewards, including: • Early access to tickets • Exclusive videos • Early access to our new podcast (details coming soon!) Thanks for all your support. This really is the best community and we are so grateful. Our last Bonfire Night gathering was so special. It can be a difficult time of year for some, with the days growing shorter. It means so much to gather with this wonderful community, share in incredible music and cheer, and reflect on what brings us together. We so appreciated everyone’s thoughts following last year’s event: “Such a joyful community in an amazing venue, everyone coming together.” “These events sitting outdoors around fires and listening to music and stories are so important for my soul. A break from our normally hectic lives.” “Bonfire Night at Cody Dock totally filled our cup! Beautiful setting bringing folk traditions into the urban docklands and up to date. A chance to honour traditions of the past, and look to the future of folk. 10/10” “It was a beautiful blend of heartfelt creativity, a wonderfully open and engaged crowd, a huge central fire and an unusual, but welcoming outdoor, urban setting.” We can’t wait to see you all next weekend at Cody Dock on the River Lea 😍🔥 by @nestfolk
