⭐️ On the Mic with Vitali Alekseenok ⭐️
Vitali joined NEUE STIMMEN for the first time in 2026, conducting the final concert with the @duisburgerphilharmoniker

Before taking the stage, we asked how often he had already conducted the music in his head and whether a baton had ever slipped from his hand 🪄

Thanks for the lovely chat @vitali_alekseenok 🤍

Want to relive the performances? All arias are available on our @lizmohnstiftung YouTube channel 🎥

Making musical theatre is, above all, a collaborative art. Bringing it to life on stage is never the work of one person alone.

Among these collaborators, vocal coaches play one of the most essential roles in the world of opera. Mostly working behind the scenes, they lay the musical and linguistic foundations, guide singers through the intricacies of their roles, and help shape the performances we eventually experience on stage.

Their contribution is indispensable, and it was a real privilege to meet or reconnect with this fantastic four at the Neue Stimmen competition.

Last week was an intense journey, from the first orchestral rehearsals at the Hamburg State Opera…

to conducting the final concert of the Neue Stimmen vocal competition.

The real challenge wasn’t just preparing 16 arias in a single day,

but building a connection with each singer,

adapting the orchestra to different musical styles and individual interpretations, supporting each artist’s vision, and helping them shine on stage.

As a conductor, sometimes the most important thing is knowing when to step back

and let the soloists take the lead,

while being there to support them at just the right moment.

I’m delighted we found that balance and grateful to have worked with so many outstanding young artists.

Thank you to the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra for your incredible commitment, and congratulations to all the finalists!
