“You have to teach it this exact way.”

That’s what Lara was taught early in her Pilates career a one correct cueing, regardless of who was in front of her.

Then she started talking with Jen, a physiotherapist. Jen showed her something different: the same exercise can (and should) look different depending on the body doing it. Modifications aren’t a workaround … they’re the point.

That shift changed everything. Once they combined Pilates with physical therapy insight and functional movement, their clients weren’t just doing the exercises - they were progressing, FAST!!

That’s the whole premise of Neu Pilates: every course co-taught, every exercise built with modifications for real, different bodies - so movement is something ANYONE can access, not just the people it was designed for.

If you’re ready to teach with that kind of confidence, comment PREVIEW to see inside our certification. by @neupilates

During a recent training in our clinic, Lara asked a group of instructors to squat - then asked where they felt it.

“Top of my thigh.”
“My knees.”
“My lower back.”

Then Jen introduced one Space Cue:

“Imagine flashlights shining down from your sit bones to the ground behind your heels. Widen where the light touches the ground.”

Lara asked again. Every single person in the room said the same thing:

“My glutes.” 🍑

One cue. Every person. Same result!!!

We developed Space Cues to get results with the fewest cues.

We tested this across thousands of clients in our 3 clinics. 80% reached optimal alignment from a single space cue. The other 20% at least didn’t compensate into pain. (Unlike ‘contract’ and ‘shorten’ cues, make-space cues generally don’t lead to injury.)

They also directly address compensation patterns by teaching the body - as efficiently as possible - proper muscle recruitment and timing.

Space Cues are one of the 8 cueing tools we teach inside the Neu Pilates certification - and just one part of what makes this training genuinely different.

“Making people feel okay” might be the best job description we’ve heard 🥹

But it doesn’t come from memorizing sequences. It comes from understanding what’s happening underneath: which muscles should be working, when they should fire, and what to do when they don’t.

It’s why every exercise we teach is co-taught by a physiotherapist and a Pilates instructor, so you learn the movement AND the anatomy behind it. Sore back, new hip, postpartum, first class ever, you’ll know how to meet them where they are 🫶🏻

As one of our students put it, “I felt like I had tools to help them! That was a game changer for me.”

Clients don’t always remember the exercise… but they do remember how it felt to be in the room with someone who understood their body.

Being that person for them is a real responsibility, and it’s the part of this job we never get tired of!

It comes from knowing the why behind every movement, and that’s what we teach in every Neu Pilates course 💚 by @neupilates

The first time you do single-leg footwork, you find out which side has been doing all the work. 😂🤣

Inside Neu Pilates Studio, every class is built with a physio-informed lens, so you learn what to notice, not just what to do.

After 20 years and three clinics, what’s mattered most has never been the exercises… it’s the people.

The client who comes back after an injury.
The instructor who messages to say “it finally clicked.”
The students who cheer each other on.

No algorithm builds that. We get to, together 💚 by @neupilates

You don’t need to relax. You need to finish the exhale you’ve been holding since this morning.

If you did Part 1, your diaphragm can actually move now - so this will work. If you didn’t, go back and release the diaphragm first, because everything below depends on having the range to empty.

Here’s what I mean. Most of us walk around in a low-grade inhale. Shoulders up near the ears, breath parked high in the chest, ribs that haven’t fully emptied in hours. We call it stress, but mechanically? It’s an unfinished breath. The body never got the signal that the threat passed, so it keeps idling in a state that’s ready to run.
The exhale is the off-ramp. Not because it’s calming in some vague wellness way - because of the vagus nerve. When you lengthen the out-breath so it’s longer than the in-breath, you’re directly stimulating the parasympathetic branch of your nervous system. Heart rate dips on the exhale. Blood pressure follows. The system that’s been bracing finally reads: safe.

But here’s the part most people skip. You have to actually empty. Push past where you’d normally stop. Get the stale air out of the bottom of your lungs - the part your shallow day-breathing never touches.

Try it right now, with me, while this loops. In through the nose, four counts. Then out, slow, for eight. And at the end, when you think you’re done - keep going. Finish it.

That’s not relaxation. That’s completion. Your body has been waiting all day for you to let it finish.

Save this for the next time your chest feels tight. Then come back and tell me what you noticed. by @neupilates
